smallish town- less than 50,000 ppl, atleast half a block to the nearest house, "everybody knows everybody" kindof place.

Hot i can handle as long as they have air conditioning and sunscreen im good.

PPL ive meet from california arent all stuck up but the ones that are usual have serious mental issues, lol. i was actually thinking of ramona or lakeside if i decided to live there.

Arizona is not bad at all. You have to like heat, but the good news is it is only REALLY hot for about 3-4 months of the year. It gets well into the 100's during summer. It is a dry heat so it's not as stifling as humid heat, but it is HOT. The spring, fall and winter are very nice though.

Arizona has a pretty low cost of living, that is a big plus. Houses and apartments are very cheap there compared to the east coast. You can get a NICE townhouse there for under $200k and you can find a very nice apartment for $8-900 a month. For $600 a month you can get a decent apartment with utilities included.

It is a fast growing area so the job market is good. Phoenix has a fair amount to do. Tempe is great. I don't know what you mean by smallish town. Tempe is a small city and a great place to live. Sedona is also an excellent place to live, really beautiful up there. Nicer than Phoenix area, but probably more expensive. As you go further north it's not quite as hot and "deserty". There is some really beautiful landscape and gorgeous mountain lakes there.

California is great too, but very very expensive and crowded. I think Northern California, north of San Francisico is beautiful, but it's probably not as warm as you'd like.

Arizona has a lot of small towns, it's pretty easy to "get away from it all" there. The desert is very peaceful and the lakes in the mountains are very nice for swimming and boating. It's inexpensive to live there. I recommend it as long as you don't mind a few months of intense heat.

Arizona: Hot, dry air [which is good if you don't like humidity]. there is traffic in all of American, I'm sorry. As for small towns hmm... Tempe is nice and Arizona state universtiy is in it if you want lots of young people around and restaraunts and parties. IF you're looking for a nice small sort of city, Scottsdale is your place. Scottsdale is also very wealthy and has lots of good dining and shopping catering to the upper-class

California: A bit more expensive. However, there are beaches and celebrities [if you have tons of cash]. The people are different [a bit ruder than Arizona]. The air is also not as good in Los Angeles [very polluted].

If i had to pick I honeslty couldn't decide either.. Probably the place where I could get a job...

Southern California has better weather but way too many people.

You want to live in Casa Grande, AZ. We're midway between Phoenix and Tucson. Housing is affordable. Population is around 40,000. We're growing faster than most of us like and the chain stores and restaurants are discovering us; though there are still a number of 'mom & pops'. We are beginning to lose our rural feel but we still have a few cowboys around.

The weather is gorgeous nine months of the year! You pay for the great weather with three hellish months each summer when the temperatures reach the 110s.

I live in California, and I've been to Arizona many times.

California:

* Warm in fall, winter, and spring. Hot in the summer.
* It's not so crowded, depending on where you live
* Southern California is the most expensive place to live in the U.S(No joke.)
* If you want to buy a 3 bedroom house(even a 30 year old one), be ready to shell out at least $400,000

Arizona:

* It's HOT!!!!!
* Mostly desert
* There are many nice landmarks, such as the Grand Canyon, but it's mostly a tourist's place
* If you decide to live there, you can always go visit California(vice versa.)
* Hello rattlesnakes!!!

Arizona is REALLY HOT. There's traffic there too, but not so much in the smaller towns. You could try Yuma Arizona, it's right on the Mexico border. It's small. What about Texas, there's nice places in Texas, and you dont have to pay income tax!

Tempe and Scottsdale are suburbs of phoenix that actually run together with phoenix and really don't feel like different towns. it's all phoenix and not small at all! weather is hell. i grew up there and remember a week on summer so hot, the temp never went below 100 even in the dead of night!! it was growing so fast that civil services can't keep pace and crime is rampant in phx especially, with 2 well publicized serial killers, both of whom were caught, credit to the pd there! i ran like hell first chance i got after 4 cops got shot in 1 week several years ago. i miss my friends but not the state
