You never hear anyone say "upstate California" or "upstate Idaho"!

It's southwest of Vail. The story about it is the government closed it about 20 years ago because of lead poisoning in the water lines or something...not real sure. It's near Nova Guides, Inc...a snowmobile tour company. They told/showed us this town on the tour when we went last winter, but I don't remember the name of the town.

I am going to the islands in a few weeks, i wanted to see if anyone knew if i could take my fishing rods without any problems. I bought a case from BassProShops that holds 8 robs. It is a soft zippered case that's about 7 feet long. My main concern is size, damage and oversize charges... i have seen people bring surf boards and skis which is about the same size, just wanted to see if anyone knew. thanks

My wife and I are moving to Anchorage or Fairbanks with the Army. Can anyone give me some details about what it's like to live in these 2 cities? Also, pros and cons about driving the alcan or taking the ferry (traveling from Virginia). Our main concerns are the effect the weather will have on our lives, what type of vehicle we will need, the cost of renting a 1,500 square foot home (plus utilities), and the health of our newborn son, who has delicate lungs (was a preemie). We want to go on a 9 day driving honeymoon vacation to Alaska in August. Mainly in the Kenai peninsula area, but also want to go to Denali too. Any hotel suggestions for Seward, Anchorage, Denali, Kenai, etc? Also good touristy spots to stop in these areas. Thanks!!
