Some things you might be interested in seeing here include:

(1) Acadia National Park. Don't just drive the 27-mile Park Loop Road, most of which hugs the rocky shore; explore the park's interior sections. The park is amazing. Save gasoline, money, and the environment by parking at the Visitors Center and riding the free shuttle service, which goes throughout the park and Mount Desert Island.

(2) Stephen King's house in Bangor, on West Broadway. You know you want to.

(3) Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Bass Harbor Light on Mount Desert Island, West Quoddy Head Light in Lubec -- some of the most-photographed lighthouses in America.

(4) L.L. Bean's main store, in Freeport. There are no locks on the doors because the store never closes.

(5) The Camden Hills region, often described as "where the mountains meet the sea." Nearby Rockland is also a good place to visit, especially the breakwater, which will take you almost an hour into the harbor to a lighthouse. You can watch lobstermen up close as they tend their traps.

(6) Baxter State Park, which is home to countless moose and Maine's highest peak, the 5,268-foot Mount Katahdin.

(7) The Moosehead Lake region. Moosehead Lake is the largest in Maine, at about 40 miles long. You can take a cruise on the lake or even a seaplane flight.

(8) The White Mountains, in the southwestern corridor.

(9) Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory, in Prospect.

Depending on the season/objectives etc. .....well, really, its all good. Even good ol' Kennebunkport is great. Or the famous Acadia area......or the Lakes region. Camden, Maine is a great choice.
