When I watched TV the other night, the government Officials encouraged tourists to visit New Orleans. They said it helped building up the economy. So, me and my friend are thinking a vacation to New Orleans during Christmas.

How many days should we spend in New Orleans? We want to see the French Quarter. But, if we go during Christmas, can we see anything? Besides the French Quarter, what else can we do? Remember we only have 3 days. We don't want to spend too much time on traffic.

Any good eating places in New Orleans?

Please advise. Thanks!

Some friends and I are going down to New Orleans on Nov. 19th to see the Deftones at the House of Blues. Ok, the Saits are playing a home game that same night and freakin Jounrey is playing a concert there too. Two of us are 19 and the other is 18.. we are having trouble finding a hotel that will let us stay just one night unless we have a 21 year old with us or an adult. Anyone know of any hotels that are in the French Quater that let anyone my age reserve a room for a night??

It is on Cops tonight that's what got me to wondering. I don't think I'd get on with the crowd very well. I wouldn't mind seeing it on tv, but I don't think I could take being there.

Has jobs been better there? Are there any more hurricanes coming that way? How has the city changed? What was the biggest toll, that Katrina took on New Orleans? I'm a sophomore in high school working on a project on Katrina, and I just need answers from only people who live in New Orleans! Because they are the only ones that know what really happened! And how it feels to be without at that particular time! What part was damaged the most?

I used to carry it all...medications, water, food, electronics. New airline regs prohibit alot. What do other travelers do? How to carry the former list? Maybe airlines have changed their onboard policies like more fluids, food, etc? (Ha) How to stay comfortable on intermediate length domestic flights, (Around 2 hours with 1 hour layovers in Atlanta, Newark, DC, St. Louis, Chicago, etc.) And not spend a fortune in the airports. Most of my travel is personal, not business.

I so badly want to visit New Orleans, it sounds like such an interesting place to me, especially after reading Anne Rice books, and watching movies about it. Would it be worth it to visit New Orleans now, or is it still too damaged from the hurricane to enjoy it?

My husband and I are going to be travelling in March/April, and looking for the best time for cool mornings and not-so-hot afternoons. I was there in October last year for the clean up, and it was awesome. But we're planning for March-April, because we have yet to schedule our vacation time at work, and it's around our anniversary.

Also, since I'm asking, does anyone know the age in Louisianna when you can rent a car?

He was in the french quarter, usually around Jackson Square or the cafe du Monde. He wore a colorful hat and looked to be about 100 years old. Does anyone know what happened to him after the storm?
