It is on Cops tonight that's what got me to wondering. I don't think I'd get on with the crowd very well. I wouldn't mind seeing it on tv, but I don't think I could take being there.

Neither would I after all the death and destruction. How can people be so unfeeling?

I've been in New Orleans for the past 5 years and I can say without a doubt Mardi Gras is the worst time of year (for me).

Bourbon Street (downtown) is a total nightmare. There are a lot of uptown bars with a much better crowd all packed during Mardi Gras, and those are definitely the places to be.

I just read the comment above mine. New Orleanians want nothing more than for people to come visit and have a good time in spite of Katrina. They want people to party during Mardi Gras more than anyone.

Like some people who have answered here, I also used to have misconceptions about Mardi Gras before I went to New Orleans during one. If you're looking to get trashed and be around rowdy people, then you go to the French Quarter during Mardi Gras.

However, if you just want to have a good time -- one that a family can enjoy -- you go to one of the parades that goes through residential areas, such as the Endymion Parade, which I went to. It was crowded, of course, with people staking out ground early in the morning or even days ahead of time, but it was great! I never enjoyed a parade so much before.

Before New Orleans was wiped off the map the crowds on non-Mardi Gras were overwhelming. I had a friend who lived in New Orleans all his life and he said that his family would never get into the middle of a crowd like the Mardi Gras crowd. He thought it was like an invitation to get trampled, stabbed, or pick-pocketed.

sure and no that's no longer low type. We lived outdoors New Orleans for 5 years and went to Mardi Gras balls and events besides as staring at each and all the eye-catching costly floats interior the Parades. our infants enjoyed it and so did 1000's of alternative people who watched the parade. human beings camped out over nighttime, delivered folding chairs and foodstuff and liquids. the only subject became there have been no available loos. in the lifeless of nighttime whilst it became over we went to a steak and egg diner and had breakfast, the childern had dozens of necklaces and different trinkets that have been thrown from the floats. One drift became the Zulu drift which carried all black people who had coconuts that once in a at an analogous time as they'd throw . I have been given one and nonetheless have it today after 25 years. the girls persons who would demonstrate their breast have been on Bourbon St. interior the French Quarter. for the time of Mardi Gras we by no potential went there, yet no person did that type of subject everywhere else in New Orleans that I heard of. you're able to bypass, I enjoyed it too.
