*warning - silly question from uninformed foreigner coming up*

Is Great Britain the same as the United Kingdom? Is it a country? England, Scotland & Wales are countries (?), but in the papers they say that "one in 10 Brits leaves the country" (which country?) Shouldn't those three be provinces of GB? If not, what makes them countries, apart from their flags and rugby teams :)

Help,

Forgive-my-ignorance

Well, yesterday I posted a question about moving to the UK from Italy, where I'm from.Almost all the answers I got suggested not doing it.I lived in London for one year and I know some pros and cons about life there but I was really surprised to get so many people to tell me to stay here in Italy.Unfortunately the reason why I would move is because I can't find a job here where I live.I just thought it was easier maybe there.Do really so many people wish to move out the UK?Why?

I am going to Edinburgh Scotland for 7 days and London England for 5 days in March. I know about the big stuff to see (Tower of London, Edinburgh Castle, Big Ben etc.), but if you've ever been to either place, what are some of the more "out of the way" places you'd recommend? Restaurant suggestions? In London, we're staying in Kensington and in Edinburgh, New Town. This is my first time out of the States and I'm pretty adventurous. Any suggestions welcome. :o) Thanks!

go somewhere thats different. We like pubs, horse racing and comfort. Although these are not essential to our weekend. Well, the comfort bit is. Any ideas anyone?
