Well, yesterday I posted a question about moving to the UK from Italy, where I'm from.Almost all the answers I got suggested not doing it.I lived in London for one year and I know some pros and cons about life there but I was really surprised to get so many people to tell me to stay here in Italy.Unfortunately the reason why I would move is because I can't find a job here where I live.I just thought it was easier maybe there.Do really so many people wish to move out the UK?Why?

Go ahead and do it cause you know why you're doing it and know also what to expect. You'll be frustrated staying in Itlay not doing anything.
So go on!!!!

I moved a Czech coule into the UK a couple of years ago and it was the best thing they ever did. It is easy to find work in the UK as long as you are willing to work in a factory or something else just as mundane, until you have built up a good work rappor with an employer, then you shoukd be able to move up the ladder. The British wish to move out because the Government tends to (without sounding bad) favour immigrants and they are given more benefits. Don't be put off by the british. Try posting a thread on a british forum and find out if any immigrants living here think they've made a good or a bad choice. The forum the Czech couple used is www.sheffieldforum.co.uk - best of luck

Its going to be just as hard finding a job in the uk. We are having major problems with unemployment and the such at the moment so its not going to make it any easier here.
However im sure if you want to come to the uk then you will, do what you think is best. Have you thought about other countries also? (i dont really have any experience of any other countries except germany so i cant say if they are any better or worse than the uk for employment) just incase something does go wrong so you have a back up plan? Mind you as you have lived here before and probably know people i guess they can help start you off again and give you support if theres any problems.

It appears you attracted answers from the negative minded, those who don't know when they're well off compared to those in some other countries. I'm 50 years old and born and bred English> I've seen many changes over that time in both the people in the country and the economic stability. Those who complain won't remember the days of power cuts, enforced 3 day working week and inflation at around 20%. Before people start saying I'm old and that's history, if not in your life time it's probably in your parents. Have you suffered as a result?

Life is change,so learn to adapt.

As to where too live, that would depend on the type of work you are looking for. London as a first port of call I would not recommend it. It is not representative of the country as a whole, it is a typical Capital City, they're much the same the world over. I would look at one of the smaller towns, we've plenty to choose from.

Good luck to you whatever you decide.

So many people wish to move because of the increase in yob culture, an underfunded and overworked health system and the constant scare mongering of some right wing newspapers that we are being overrun with immigrants who are going to give us all diseases, steal our cars and blow us up.
I agree, there are pros and cons to living here, like anywhere. Personally I like it. Moderate climate (cept last summer when we all cooked), freedom of speech, multiculturalism, roof over my head, clean water, plenty of food, free education for my kids.
Benefit culture does suck though, but if youre coming to work the more the merrier I say.
Just be aware everything is bleedin' expensive if you are used to living in a country where stuff is reasonably priced.

Hey come on over and see for yourself.

However, don't restrict yourself to London. There are so many better places to be based (and cheaper too) depending on what you want to do.

From Easter the tourist industry will start recruiting for the season. Good time to get a temporary job, so you can look around for something more permanent.

Good luck, and enjoy

The weather IS a big factor, carino! I moved here from France 15 years ago, so obviously now, my life is here but I do wish I could go back or bring better weather here -the cold and wet gets you down after a while...

Ciao!

Dove abiti in L'Italia? Mi paice Italia, c'e bellissimo. Ma, Londres c'e fantastico!
Don't worry! Come over. We have our problems, but we also love to moan, so just ignore it. If you've lived here before, then you know full well all the pitfulls.

Buona Fortuna!
