I know technically the UK & US are allies, but that's only government. I also know that plenty of Brits (as well as plenty of Americans) hate our President & government. But as far as actual normal, everyday American people go, do you really hate us as much as it seems? I can understand hatred of our government (I hate them too) but it seems like most people who are anti-American just base their hatred off of stereotypes & things they see on TV, much like other people with ethnic prejudices. Just curious.

What do you think of it, do you like living there?

I'm Welsh, from Newport, and my boyfriend is from Gillingham. We live in Caerphilly, South Wales now but we did try moving to Kent for a while so he could "go home". We lived in Gravesend and I hated it. I was so homesick.

The people were really nice though! I really liked everyone I met down there, they are all so friendly and chatty. To me they all sound like Cockneys but my BF insists he is nothing like one!!!

BF's family live in Sittingbourne now (or "S(h)ittingbourne as his brother calls it).

Best bits about the area? Rochester Castle. Bluewater Shopping Centre (or Bluewa'er" as the locals call it), Chatham Dockyard(Chatham = really Chavvy, just like Newport), Canterbury (very posh and historical) and all the really nice countryside around and about.

And I never met anyone down there who was rude or unpleasant to me about being Welsh either! They all loved my accent, hehe!

Ok people, I need your help. I'm in England, and my partner is flying out from California to spend a week with me. He's arriving at Heathrow. What I want to know is - can anyone tell me a good hotel/place to stay within reasonable travelling difference of Heathrow (he'll be jet-lagged for 36 hours) that is laid-back but great - we're both old hippies so we need to be able to kick-back and relax, and want privacy, a no news-no shoes kind of place to just spend some time together...it doesn't have to be cheap, but it does have to be beautiful...and if anyone knows of anything 'alernative', that would be just great. 10 points for the person who points me in the right direction. Thanks for your help! X

Why do people say that Muslims do not belong in the west?
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtxFmcavVF3h2PcR48HMLp8SBgx.?qid=20060810062358AAKrJ7m&cp=2&tp=2#all-answers

Just because my husband is Muslim does not mean he can't be British.

My husband was born in the UK so were his parents. His mother can even trace her family back to the Magna Carta.

He has served in the Bristish Army in Northern Ireland and Bosnia protecting his country and the people who say he is not British just because of his religion..

He now has a susccessful business paying taxes and giving jobs to people like those who say Muslims can't be British..

My husband loves his country. And the British values of freedom , fairness , and democracy. He is a true Brit.

Are those people who want to take away my husband human rights acting like true Brits?

What right do they have to say that my husband and other Muslims can not be British?
