I know technically the UK & US are allies, but that's only government. I also know that plenty of Brits (as well as plenty of Americans) hate our President & government. But as far as actual normal, everyday American people go, do you really hate us as much as it seems? I can understand hatred of our government (I hate them too) but it seems like most people who are anti-American just base their hatred off of stereotypes & things they see on TV, much like other people with ethnic prejudices. Just curious.

Hey I'm a Brit and I don't hate Americans!!In fact I argue in favour of the Americans on this site! I also regularly, on a daily basis, converse with Americans via my personal email !! I have had occasions on this site to say a few words to some Americans, who,in no uncertain terms were "having a go" at the Brits, but I do realise, that that's life!We all let off steam on occasions, but that is not to say I hate them! A lot of the problems are caused by the media, which, as you are probably are aware are anti-American,(some) and unfortunately there are those in this country that actually believe ALL they read or hear, without finding out the true facts. There are also those who, when there are problems that need solving in the world ask,"what is America going to do about it"?!!Funny thing is,its normally those who are anti-American! Funny that, wouldn't you say!..................Karen ..UK

it somewhat is a stereotype that only specific people have. countless people have British ancestors afterall. do no longer make the blunders of questioning stereotypically that each and one and all people hate the British. I for one, love the BBC, the exhibits on it, and the individuals from Britain that i've got come for the time of. additionally, no longer very lots of individuals donated to the IRA. yet another stereotype i think of which you have been misled to have self belief.

You know what, the Brits don't hate Americans, they just find them highly amusing, especially the pronounciation of our lovely English words, that you seem to mangle! God bless you all. You really are probably the most funny people on the planet, thats why i married one so i could move to the US and laugh all day!!!!!
President bush is THE most amusing of them all. Why on earth did the American people vote for him? I'm sure someone has a hand up his backside to make him move and talk.....think you should get a woman next time.

I think what the British dislike is the arrogance of the American government and military based on ignorance of other cultures.
As for individual americans, we probably see the worst examples of them on our television screens and think they are all like that.
This is obviously unfair but unfortunately it is human nature.
When people meet face to face the outcome is usually quite different.
