What do you think of it, do you like living there?

I'm Welsh, from Newport, and my boyfriend is from Gillingham. We live in Caerphilly, South Wales now but we did try moving to Kent for a while so he could "go home". We lived in Gravesend and I hated it. I was so homesick.

The people were really nice though! I really liked everyone I met down there, they are all so friendly and chatty. To me they all sound like Cockneys but my BF insists he is nothing like one!!!

BF's family live in Sittingbourne now (or "S(h)ittingbourne as his brother calls it).

Best bits about the area? Rochester Castle. Bluewater Shopping Centre (or Bluewa'er" as the locals call it), Chatham Dockyard(Chatham = really Chavvy, just like Newport), Canterbury (very posh and historical) and all the really nice countryside around and about.

And I never met anyone down there who was rude or unpleasant to me about being Welsh either! They all loved my accent, hehe!

I moved to Chatham a few years back when I was working in London (and girlfriend lived there). I absolutely hated it and the surrounding area! It was very very chavvy (as you mention) IMHO, property prices were too high and a good night out generally consisted of going to London anyway.
In fact, about a year later I moved back to Bristol and it's the best thing I've ever done!
But still, it's horses for courses I guess, and a lot of people might prefer it to the West Country, or South Wales for that matter!

I live literally in the Medway on a boat near Rochester. There's a kind of beauty about the bit I live in but I wouldn't dream of living in a house here. Just taking a walk down the main street in Chatham can be pretty nauseus with couples fighting, hoodies glaring and immigrants stealing from handbags. Call me biased, I don't care. Never used to be.
I'm originally from Wales and am used to the sea so living on a muddy river comes a poor second. Still, it's where the work is so I'll stay here for a while.

Like everywhere, Medway cities at the instant are not all stable yet they at the instant are not all undesirable the two. i can't show you how to comprehend lots approximately person aspects yet I used to stay in NW Kent and that i do no longer keep in mind all people announcing Chatham or Gillingham have been undesirable cities.
