I leave tomorrow and was wondering if there is anything that a local might consider it important for an American to know when going over. Tipping, etc.

I live near Archway tube station (Northern Line) and Holloway tube station and also near Highbury & Islington(Picadilly Line) tube station (Victoria Line).

But I don't want to get to Wembley by tube, because it involves changing line too many times.

Is there a more direct route by bus or rail?

I want to plan a weekend away somewhere this weekend, (In england) with my boyfriend. Ive trawled through hotelnet/superbreak and nothing is jumping out.

The weathers likely to be poor (in the north of england anyway) so need somewhere where they'll be indoor places.
Any ideas? I'd thought about York/Lincoln/Chester/Newcastle, but we've been there not long back

I will be going to London at the end of the summer. I would like some suggestions. I am not much of a drinker or nightclub person, so i really don't need any suggestions on this. There are enough pubs that if I want to go out at night I will find one. I am into Tudor history and will see Hampton Court and The Tower and will take in a few flea market, forget the London Eye, too high up for me. What I really want to know is about lodging. I would like a nice , reasonably priced hotel, not a chain, but a privately owned hotel with private bathrooms, close to the tube. Also any suggestions for renting a car for a day trip to the coast, i.e. fishing villages.

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel on the Isle of Wight?
Preferably near the sea, but fairly quiet (preferably no small kids), good facilities & food must be very good. Price up to £500 pp per week dinner bed & breakfast.
Have stayed at the Woolacombe Bay Hotel in North Devon many times and am looking for something of the same standard.

I don't understand! I'm an American, and in our country we are allowed to carry guns. Why not in the UK? I should be an exception to the rule. I'm an American.
