London has oxford street, regeant street and bond street all linked together, around 3 miles of high street! However most of it is usual chain stores - but it is all in one place!

There are some small individual shops - especially if you head to covent garden (not far), and of course there's lots of sight seeing to do as well.
London is sprawling - not compact like Edinburgh, the centre of it is fairly easy to walk around and tubes and buses make it easier to link places together

to see what else is on that you may want to do. There's too much to choose from if you want to make the most of your time here.
Have fun!

Oxford Street is where most tourists venture for shopping. There you have the big shops such as: John Lewis, Debenhams, TopShop, Gap, House of Fraser, Primark, M&S, Next, HMV, Selfridges etc. Old Bond Street has some higher end shops such as Burberry, Tiffany's etc. Sloane Street has even higher end shops such as Chanel etc. Knightsbrige has Harrods and Harvey Nichols - worth a look even if you don't buy anything. For shopping centres there is the new Westfield in Shepherds Bush, Centrale and Whitgift in Croydon, Brent Cross in North London or if you can travel out Lakeside and Bluewater giant ones in Kent. For markets there is Camden Lock market for bits and bobs - hippy / punk kind of things. Portobello Road market, Petticoat Lane Market and Southwark Market. Covent Garden has some shops and a little craft market and there are usually some buskers on so a nice place to end up for lunch if you can. The Kings Road is a mixture of trendy, high street and designer shops, Peter Jones (John Lewis) and again has lots of nice pavement cafes for lunch so a nicer place to go than Oxford Street (Sloane Square tube). Regent Street (between Piccadilly and Oxford Street) has some nice shops including the large Hamleys toy store which is nice to visit even if you don't have kids.

If you cant manage London get yourself to Birmingham and the bull ring- I would say as good as London and nicer and less hassel etc you can get the train to birmingham new street and be there, plus theres selfridges and the birmingham eye very good, and nights out are brill and no where near as expensive as the big smoke!
Do it you'll love it!
You could probably fly from edinburgh to birmingham really cheap as well!

I'm not trying to be funny but with cheap flights you could probably go to New York for less money and have great shopping, though for me I would always opt for London, it's really special.

Its be best place for shopping in the UK. Designer or high street - it has the best selection of anything you want. Nowhere else in the UK compares. But beware, accomodation in central London is very expensive.
