Does anyone know which car rental companies are close to the area where the cruise ship tenders bring passengers to shore? Friends want to rent a car for the day during their cruise stop in Cabo.

we are staying at the sunscape puerto aventuras riviera maya in a couple of weeks, has anyone ever stayed there? nice or not? we are doing the all inclusive but wondering what else is a must do ? thinking the ruins, swim with the dolphins, ferrying to cozmel, any info on cost for these would be appreciated. also where is the best Shopping? We are going on a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico starting in mid-December, and wondering what the average on the ground cost per week ranges from. We are trying to get away from the vacation hot-spots (Cancun, Cozumel, etc...) and plan on making our trip as bare-bones financially as possible. If anyone has vacationed there in the last few years could give us a good ballpark figure (and any amazing destinations ^_^ ), that information would be invaluable!

I drove this route about 12 years ago and remember it as a nightmare. The roads were not completed and the alternate routes were pretty scarey. What will I need for car insurance and such? How much time should I expect it to take? Any and all advise will be welcomed and appreciated. We are two adults and two late teenaged boys. Twelve years ago was a bad dream. I had to take the shoulder regularly to avoid hitting oncoming passing cars head on. It was nerve wrecking in many ways. I feared for my LIFE! but I will assume things have inmproved there since then How do I go about getting the necessary car insurance? At the boarder? Can I realistically make Queretaro from Laredo in a good day?
