sign up for yahoo messenger with voice. A free download. Then sign up for the computer to phone option. It does take a credit card, but only a $10 charge. You can then make calls to Mexico for only one or two cents per minute.

There are a couple of options depending upon what technology you have. If you don't have a home computer, international phone cards are available that will end up being cheaper than the rates your long distance service will provide.

If you do have a home computer, using the phone calling services through Yahoo (Yahoo Voice), or Skype, will be the cheapest. (You will need a headset/microphone in order to do this.) If you are going to do repeated phone calls over a long period of time, you can also look into buying a phone that will work through a router so that you can make phone calls even when your computer is not on. Vonage is one of the companies that offers plenty of options, but there are others. They often offer significant rebates on their equipment.

Beyond that, there are also call-back services, such as Koala Calling, which also provide discounted rates and services.

Basically, you need to decide what types of technology and services fit your needs best.
