i'm a bit confused by your question. are you driving or flying to mexico?
i go to mexico every year (i'm american) and i've never had to get a tourist visa, we fly to mexico, but i don't know if it's the same for if you were driving to mexico.
i'm pretty sure that if your a tourist, you don't need a visa. but i'd make sure of this.

where are you going into mexico from? if you are going in through el paso,tx it takes about 30 minutes once your in mexico in juarez. but you go to the same place where you get promission for your car and thats where you get the tourist visa it cost about $20.00 for 6 mounths. hope that I helped you out.
