I, as a Mexican, would not take communism as a form of government (it will NEVER happen). However, I believe in social equity. As Charlie mentioned, we tend towards socialism, but most people in Mexico (that is, poor Mexicans) confuse socialism with populism, and that's when we're in trouble. If communism ever threatens to become the form of government in Mexico, I will get the hell out of here to Europe (not the US, sorry, I don't like the US way of life)

You are right ( to other answerer) Mexico is not poor, but the majority of people are. I am an American living in Mexico. I do not belive Mexico would ever accept communism, but they do lean towards socialism. In the recent presidential election, the second place candidate was Lopez Obrador, a socialist and friend of Hugo Chavez (also a socialist) , the president of Venezuela...and no friend of the United States.

There is no relationship between poverty and communism. I do not understand the point of view. In poor countries is more common to find a dictatorship.
