Sparks is right. You must have notarized letter of permission for your child from other parent and from both parents fr your nephew. Children must also have a passport. Go to website below and click on "consular services" for details oncrossing into Mexico.

It's not that difficult to cross the border from the U.S. into Mexico. The difficult part is crossing the border back into the U.S. The best thing to do would be to get passports for yourself, your infant, and your nephew.

You need notarized permission from the other parent if you are the only adult. That is the rule for your kids but I'm not sure it's enough for relatives or friends. If so you would need notarized permission from both parents ... plus notarized birth certificates or passports. I would check with AAA or other travel agency

Have some type of passport or birthcertificate for EVERYONE!! from the U.S. and if you're going in car, don't forget to get the car permit.
