I am a mexican mother who is very worried because my daughter who is 18 went to Montreal today. I told her to let me know as soon as she was there and had had no answer. she arrived there 5 hours ago and I think it is time enough to call. This is the first time she goes on her own. I know she is not a baby but I am really worried. Can someone please help me telling me the time to get there.Or if someone lives near that address let me know.

We're staying in Old Montreal, but are used to using public transportation abroad. Looking for a place to have a nice dinner, upscale, formal. Any other tips would be great also.

Hi Guys,

A friend and I are planning a 5-day trip to Montreal.
From booking web sites, it would cost us each about $500-$600 for a decent hotel (3-star or above) in a decent area.

So, I am thinking about renting a short-term aparment/condo.
From my research, I can rent it for a week for same price (or cheaper) with hotels. Renting an apartment seems much better since you could get a bigger place (2 bedrooms, a ketchen, and a fireplace) Local calls are also free...

Since I am new to traveling, I have questions about short-term apartment.
1.) It is just like me renting a long-term apartment, right? I can go places or have friends vist me at any time during my stay, right?
2.) What kind of contract do I need to sign? Is this too risky since I don't know any French?
3.) Are there more hidden fees that I should know about?
4.) Could you recommend me good apartment for rent that you know?

Any pros and cons of both choices would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

My husband and I are going to be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary at the beginning of August and are considering Montreal. We are in our mid 20's-ex goth/industrial kids with a taste for fine food, good beer/smoke and noise/dance music. We have only been to Montreal once a few years ago to see Coil and LOVED it. Any suggestions about places or areas to see, shop, eat, drink stay would be helpful, thanks!

I'd like to know how to reach StevenN, who apparently is from Montreal. Unfortunately he has chosen that his Yahoo Answers account does not have an email link and each time he gives an incorrect or partially incorrect Answer I'd like to advise him.

I'm going to Montreal for a week in summer. Apart from catching the Jazz festival what else is there to see/do? Any recommendations for night life? Is it worth going on any 1 or 2 day trips to nearby cities?? thanks!

I have heard that Montreal is not very open to US citizens. I have also heard that Montreal does not tolorate Immigrants very well. Is this true?

I mean, with all the nightlife and a casino in Montreal it isn't neccesarily the best city to bring your whole family for a tour or vacation.

My friend once told me that Montreal is the worst tourist destinations for families next to Las Vegas in North America and that it shouldn't be an option unless you are a couple or single. Isn't this true?
