You can speak English in Montreal, but you will definitely miss out on about 65% of everything that is going on. Use it as an opportunity to learn French! Swap English lessons for French ones. As far as teaching English, since English is an official language you would be educating mostly foreigners from non-English speaking countries.

I did a crash course in French about 2 months before going to Montreal. The European French is quite different from the Canadian French so when I tried talking to people in stores and on the street in Montreal I had some difficulty time talking to them but when they detected the American accent I had they switched easily to English. I'm not sure about English Teachers are a big demand in Montreal, I'm pretty sure you can be used if you were teaching in Adult Education for Foreign speakers. Bonne chance - Good Luck.

My husband is a hundred% fluent in french and English, yet he had a french discern so as that particularly helped him look after the language.
