I am a mexican mother who is very worried because my daughter who is 18 went to Montreal today. I told her to let me know as soon as she was there and had had no answer. she arrived there 5 hours ago and I think it is time enough to call. This is the first time she goes on her own. I know she is not a baby but I am really worried. Can someone please help me telling me the time to get there.Or if someone lives near that address let me know.

Just go to Google or Yahoo maps and put in the address. Using "Get Directions", you can type in "YUL" for the airport code, and "Beaubien, Montreal, QC, Canada" for the street.

If going on the highway, it is about 30 minutes to get from north side of Montreal to south side, and no more than an hour to get from west end to east end.

Montreal is a pretty safe city, so it is possible she did not call yet or did not figure out how to dial home (you have to enter 011-52- then your number in Mexico) or her plane was delayed.

You can check flight arrivals for Montreal at this website

And if you do not hear from your daughter in 24 hours and are still worried, you can contact the Montreal police. I would not contact them until 24 hours have passed, since they will not consider this issue a missing persons case until that time. The police station for the Beaubien area:

The Mexican consulate may also help you if you have not heard back and feel that nothing is being done here:

You can also contact the airline to make sure that she actually got on the plane to come to Canada. If she was on the flight, there should be a record of it.

Be aware that Canada is a very safe place to live and visit, and it is rare that someone will just "disappear" here unless they wanted to do so.

I am starring the question. Please make sure to update us to make sure that she arrived okay.

Yes, it's pretty far. The airport is west and a bit south of downtown, Beaubien is north and east. (The bigger the street number, the farther east it is.) It could easily take her over an hour (maybe even two hours) to get out of the airport, and if she's taking a taxi that could add about 45 minutes. If she's taking the city bus, even if she knows exactly what she's doing, it will probably take close to two hours.

I hope she's ok! She's probably tired and maybe a bit lost but there's no need to panic.

Hopefully you have heard from her by now.

I am sure that she did not call because she was still excited about being in a wonderful new city. The Beaubian area is one of our most multi-cultural neighbourhoods and is bisected by a nice shopping promenade called St-Hubert; she may have taken time at cafes or stores there.

Yours truly,

Marie (of Montréal)

PS: Hey! If you or your daughter want to make a lot of money start a genuine salsa-making business up here. Widely sold fresh real genuine salsa and chips is something that Montréal, otherwise one of the world's centres of gastronomy, sadly lacks!!!!!

I hope you can come up to visit your daughter. She (and you) will love Montréal.

I am sorry you went through such a difficult time. At this point in your life, what you need most is aperson who emphathises with you and is genuinely concerned for you. I am a Christian and for your needs, the OT is pretty tough reading. I suggest you should read the New testament. Having said that, let me add that in general people tend to be highly judgemental, irrespective of their faith and I am including Christians in this. If you read the NT you will find that Jesus spent more time in Bethany than in Bethlehem and in the company of people who are called socially marginalised. So why not try Christ instead of pinning your faith on people.

It could take her easily an hour and a half to two hours depending on the time of day. I used to work there and some of my friends who took the bus said it took around 2 hours. I always gave them lifts at night because transit system is so slow. I hope like you that she is alright!
