This one's a 30-minute drive, I can't think of anything closer unless you ask a farmer around St-Basile-le-Grand.

There are no campgrounds on the island of Montreal. There are ample campsites once you get about 30-45 minutes away from the city, but nothing closer than that. If you're on a budget, your best bet would be to find a cheap hotel in the town of Longueuil, and then you're just one subway stop away from the track.

Hotel Le Dauphin Montreal Longeuil is usually reasonably priced, but of course during grand prix weekend everyone jacks up their prices.
