Montreal can be really perfect in June, but in July and August, it depends. Unpredictable mix of sun and other weather. Sometimes it becomes hot and humid for many days, I mean, hot and humid comparing to the rest of the province and to the rest of the year, not really like in the jungle :)
Every public building (like many museum, hotel, resto, bar, shopping center, etc.) and many transports (taxi, trains, long ride buses but not cities transports) have air conditionning, so you can get a cold by always changing from dry 20 degrees to humid 30 outside...
It can change quickly, from 5 in the night to 25 in the middle of the morning, from rain to sun. We have usually a good part of sun. When it's hot, sometimes you get smog and a thunderstorm in the end of the day.
Example of variation : we got almost snow yesterday, a lot of rain the day before, some thunderstorms and we should get to a sunny 20 in the weekend. Summer is like this but hotter usually.
So, bring a rain/wind jacket and polar along with your shorts and sandals. Look weather reports a few days before at : http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/cities/can/Pages/CAQC0363.htm
