Hiya. As many as you know I am an aussie who is living in nz. While i wouldn't live anywhere else, I find this place hilarius.

The other day I went to the supermarket and a check out chick there was eating a cheescake while serving!

When I got home my next door neighbors wife was dacncing with her kids on top of her car (completly sober!)

At my daughters school there is a really weird handshake going around. Instead of hitting hands, they poke each others fingers, poke them selves in the eye, tap on the wrist watches and then put up the peace sign with their fingures and shout "peace and chicken grease"- is that mental or what!

I remember about 8 months ago i was watching a current affair program here called
'Fair Go'. One story was about a lady whos shoes where stolen! She got them from the wearhouse!, lol

I still can't get over how people here drive their cars on to the beach. They never did that in austrlaia, haha..

any you ever had a kiwi encounter like this

She's from Laos, and just recently got a scholarship to study in Australia....it's up to her which school she wants to apply the scholarship to.

Her English is understandable, but certainly not perfect. She is suppose to attend another year of English classes before she goes.

I would like your opinion on which university would be welcoming for her. She's a little shy, but not as shy as your typical Asian, but still. Reputation does matter; but she's a little worried about studying abroad because she's...well she's a lady and is afraid of her safety (but I think Australia is pretty safe, and she doesn't have anything to worry about...but still).

Also she plans on studying accounting.

Thanks for much for any help!!!

I am coming for my honeymoon to NZ in November. I am staying at Chrictchurch for 3 nights and Queenstown for 4 nights. I am spending one night each at Wanaka, Mt. Cook and Franz Josef. I have one additional night to spend. Among the above 3 places, where should I spend it. Which is the most scenic and relaxing?

We have 2 young children and are seriously considering moving to Australia. I just dont want to move and really regret it. For those of you that have done it what did you find the most difficult. I just find the whole thing scary but really exciting as well.

Do Australia's in general really dislike or hold a grudge against the English? Is it common enough that the average English visiter to Australia would get a few distasteful comments, or is it exagerated?

First of all, I am Canadian....and it seems to me that if Canada had a sister country, it would be Australia. Yes, the U.S is right there, but we really aren't that similar to the U.S.

Upon meeting some Australians in Laos this year, I was amazed at how smooth our conversations were. I believe Canadians and Aussies to be very nice to strangers something not shared by most Americans.

What do you think? Are Australians, and Canadians similar? While in Laos, I was happy to help an Aussie and lend him some money to cross the border (he was totally honest and repaid the money the next day); similarily Aussies were always very friendly and very approachable.

1. We both love our beers
2. Both former British colonies
3. Beautiful girls
4. Canadians end their sentences with "eh" Aussies with "ya"

What do you think? Canadians and Aussies, very similar? A friend of mine is going to university in Melborne, I hope to visit her and Australia next year.

Outside of Australia, pick ONE specific destination that is either your favorite or your ultimate dream vacation spot. No such replies like a European tour, noe an Asian swing.

Imagine staying in that one place for just one week.
