I am from the US and was wondering how much I should expect to spend per month on food and entertainment. I plan on going out at least twice a week to a nice dance club. Help me out... Thanks!

My friend goes to china from time to time and says that a nice football jersey would be 80 cents, a rolex for 5 $, and probably about 50 movies for 10 $.

Why is it forbidden / taboo to depict a full-representation of a skeleton in China? And is it still forbidden today?

I read about it in a travel magazine article.

Thanks for any helpful explanation you can give.

While living in China for a year, I accidentally bought over 100 (presumably) pirated DVDs for 6 RMB (less than $1) each.

I would like to take them home with me, but if there's any chance of a problem, I'll just ditch them here. I keep them in a normal-looking CD sleeve case, without packaging. They look like legit DVDs except for the Chinese and horrible English translations.

I can play them on my computer, and I have a compact DVD player I can transport, so that's not a problem. Does anyone know what the possible implications could be if U.S. Customs had a problem with them? What would be the likelihood of getting stopped for them? Any chance of pleading ingorance and simply having them confiscated without some stiff punishment?

These would be solely for personal use, of course.

Specifically I'm interested in computer and data storage equipment. I move a lot of confidential data and and I need to know if they are going to turn on my computer and try to go through my files or not. Any other info on the customs search would be greatly appreciated. If it matters I'm holding a US passport.

how about cash? is there is a charge to convert my u.s. dollars to chinese yen or yuan, whatever its called? if so, how much?

or would it be best to take my mastercard debit card? i was told paypal only charges $1 to take out money but that does not include the charges that the atm machines will charge over there.

I sent a letter to Wuhe, Bengbu but it never got there. I wrote down the address like that, "Anhui shen, Wu hexian, long hu chun # hao. China". I wonder if the postman, in this area, can read it as written in roman characters. Or have i written it the wrong way?

Me and my friends will be going Hong Kong this coming Wednesday, and we are planning a trip to Shenzhen the next day. There will be only 3 girls moving around Shenzhen, will it be safe?

We do know how to communicate in cantonese and mandarin, therefore language is not a problem for us.

However, we do not know how to go to those shopping places in Shenzhen. Can anyone provide us with some information on how do we go to these shopping areas mentioned below:

Mixc mall
Lowu Commercial City
Dongmen Commercial Center

And how do I translate commerical city, centre and mall into mandarin?

Any other cheap shopping places which any can recommend?

Possibly someone who has done the flight and could tell us what type of plane it was and how it was set up inside for long distance travel. Do you sleep sitting up in chairs etc??
