I recall for a little while seeing pictures in a Chicago news paper, posted in fishing bait and tackle shops about a shark either dead, caught, netted, or located in one of the Great Lakes in the USA. I am not making this up. Most people a skeptical of this, but it was a photo in a major Chicago newspaper. Is anyone old enough to remember this photo? Please help, because I kind of have a bet on this. I think there was such a fish and photo, and it was in a major Chicagoland newspaper, maybe 20 to 35 years ago. I'm not making this up. (I don't suggest that sharks are IN the Great Lakes. I'm not trying to scare anyone.)

I want to start fishing but have no friends that are in to it so haven't really got anyone to talk to. I want to start off with the small stuff, my ambition being to end up chartering my own boat to like-minded individuals who'll pay to go deep-sea fishing.

So what do I need to get started in fishing? My budget is about £100 for equipment, if this is any good- is buying second hand an option? What do I need? I will be fishing in the local river (a hotspot) as there isn't really anywhere else where I live.

As my ultimate aim is to get in to sea fishing, is it wise to start on a river- or should I begin by fishing off of the beach? Are they two distinct disciplines with few interchangeable skills?

Thanks for your help!

PS, anyone with experience of charter boats, your advice is more than welcome! Is it a good life?

I am 15, 5' 9'', 140 lbs. I want to start hunting some of the whitetails near my house and by my uncles. What type of gun do you think I should get to start off. I've heard of rifles that can be turned into shotguns by swapping out the barrel. Would the Cabelas by my house be a good place to start looking?

I have tried to remove the forearm for refinishing. I can take the ring that holds it to the barrel off but the ring that holds the barrel and the magazine together will not fit over the front sight. The front sight does not seem to come off. I dont want to disassemble the entire rifle so is there an easy way or trick that I am missing?

Texas Gun Laws?
I have a relative that wants to own a shotgun in Texas. He spent 11 months in Texas department of corrections for marijauna possesion (no violent crimes). That was 7 years ago. Can he own a firearm or be in possesion of a fiearm to hunt ?

I have a Glock 23 (.40 S&W). I also own a 9mm in another cheaper manufacturer.

How should I store my magazines? I want a gun ready if needed for home defense. Should I store the magazines fully loaded or half-loaded? Does storing full magazines damage the springs or hurt the life of the magazine in anyway? Should I rotate out the loaded magazine with my spares?
