I need some tips on turnign my freshwater setup to a surf setup for my trip to mazatlan. I don't want to spend much I just want to be able to fish while I am chilling on the beach.

also what kind of bait would you use in mazatlan early march and what time of day is the best to fish?

thanks

well, there's no quick and cheap way to modify a freshwater setup to be used for saltwater. however, as long as you clean it after every use, it should be fine as it is.

Alternatively, the best way to prepare yourself is take a trip to Wal-Mart or similar store, and spend $30 or so on a complete surf setup. If you are just 'chilling' on the beach, it sounds like you wont be doing very intense fishing, so the cheapest thing you can find at the store should suffice.

exactly what was stated prior.do not invest in top of the line equipment unless you become serious.salt water tackle must be cleaned and cared for.breakage is a problem for salt water beginners.get past that stage then graduate to better stuff
