i have a tattoo of a steelhead fly on my left shoulder called a purple ghost. i've never seen or heard of another like it and even the artist that did it thought it was different. if it's what you're into go for it. anyone can get a generic tatty like the barbed wire around your arm but something unique is a good thing.

I think the fish would not be a good animal to tattoo because of the scales.
If you want a tattoo of a salmon on your body then I think it would be interesting, a salmon is a beautiful fish.

There are some really cool salmon tattoo designs in the Haida style. This was a native american tribe of the northwest and their style of art and tattoo work is still used frequently. you should be able to find a lot of pictures with a yahoo image search
