I want to buy a Duracoat kit for my rifle and Duracoat it. Has anyone else tried this before? Was it as easy as they make it out to be?

Yes, done it. Takes some practice and skill to get professional looking results, not to mention buying the kit, etc.
I've painted cars and refinished wood furniture before, so with that kind of experience it was not hard. If you've never done anything like that before, buy enough to do some practicing. You must have patience and an eye to prefection. If you are a hurry-up kind of person, send it off to a professional. You can find plenty on the Lauer website.

I personally haven't used Duracoat, but know many who have, and they really like it. I've heard it has a long cure time as well.

I had two of my rifles coated with Norell's Moly Resin. It has a quick cure time, chemical resistant, and extremely durable. It also touches up easily if needed.

Worth a look. Good luck.

Duracoat would be a great addition to a rifle that you are going to actually use. I wouldn't advise putting it on any collectible gun (as you probably already know). Try it out. I think you'll probably like it.
