I've been involved in high school track (long distance) all my life, but I really want to try something new now. What could I likely get into? btw, i'm pretty thin, so no heavy contact sports :)

I don't mean just kata, per se. We practice "in the air" on our own at school, just looking at ourselves in the mirror. My punches are fast and tight. My kicks are good. My blocks and stances are OK too. But when I spar, I fall apart! When I see other ppl practicing in the mirror, they punch all over the place! But they are better than me in sparring.

How come I can't fight as well as I practice? Where's the disconnect?

I posted this question before but it wasn't clear I guess.

according to yahoo news! on the entertainment section, david beckham apparently paid himself £19 million last year of 2005. its ridiculous. and i ask for what exactly? what do footballers do which warrants that ridiculous sum of money, other than just kick a ball around for 90 mins on the pitch? by the way, i am a footie (or you are based in the US/australia) soccer fan myself-yet disillusioned as to why they should get paid £100,000+ week. as for david beckham himself, he is not worth 19 million a year. its insane that nurses, university lecturers, and women in general are often understaffed, undervalued and being paid derisory amounts-yet he and other sporting athletes get £19 million or more. where is the logic in this i ought to ask?

hence, beckham earns too much money whilst playing for real madrid and since his arrival at the club, real madrid won no trophies. if he was that good a footballer- which i'd say he's not- he'd not be doing ads, sell aftershave, wear sarongs, etc.

Thinking about signing my family up for a membership to the Y. Wondering if it's a good idea. Are the programs for children enriching? Is the gym facility comparable to that of a fitness club? Are the programs worth the cost of membership?

What two athletes would you combine? Example: Combine a Tennis player and a baseball player hoping to make a better batter, or a sprinter and a soccer player so...etc.

I say a Decathalete and a Gymnast combination would be dynamite- they'd be Spiderman. What do you think would be a great combo?
