In competing terms. I saw his Phil Baroni a$$ kicking recently and he looked like the best fighter on the planet. Why hasn't he fought in UFC or Pride in so many years.

i am a 3rd dan holder in TKD and at odds with my peers. apparently we live in a world where in a simsa (grading test) all that matters are the patterns-i quote one instructor recently "so long as he gets his poomsae right he will pass"-i beleive this to be wrong. what happened to the warrior instinct-the will to prove your courage in battle-the "indominitable spirit". as this goes-there will be no true dans in the world-just black belt holders in patterns-your thoughts please.

I'm in beginner's Muay Thai and we do two rounds of jumping rope, 5-8 minutes of warm-up kicks, punches and leg checks. About 5-6 rounds of focus mitts then 5-6 rounds of using Thai pads or on some days belly pads or both on one occasion we also used shin pads. 1 round of galloping in a circle while passing a 10 pound ball around.
50 push ups, 100 sit-ups. Then 5 minutes of streching. The problem is that my instructor does not care too much about how powerful your kicks are, it's all about how you execute your kicks and punches to her. ANd we never use speed bags. Does this class sound good? It's not 1/2 as brutal or demanding as people say Muay Thai is. And please tell me it'll probably get a LOT harder later.

I have been attending a karate dojo for about 1 month and I love it. I started to learn the basic kicks the other day. I cannot kick that high. Is that something that will come in time or is there some stretching or exercises I can do to help with this. Also is there any thing I can do to help with my balance while kicking. I am all over the place.

Im at a weird point in my training. I am getting older and my knees and shoulders are starting to wear out. Like everyone else that's trained for several years I have a ton of old injuries. I also am no where near as "Hard Core" as I was several years ago when I started training. I am having trouble finding a school that trains hard, but not crazy hard or that isn't a Mcdojo joke. What do you older martial artists do when your body needs a change of pace?

So it's obvious that we have opinions on this show, but what did you like about it? What did you hate about it? Do you think the technology could have been more advanced? Less? What's your overall perception of the show?

Like when someone punches you how can you take their fist and put it behind their back? Things like that.. I dont want to hurt people just sustain someone if I do get in a bar fight to avoid lawsuit. ( It makes people look alot more skilled to )

I was convinced that I was going to take Shotokan, but then I was watching TabunFire again. It got me thinking. Maybe I should take Muay Thai instead. So I would really appreciate it if any of you guys tell me the cons and pros for shotokan and muay thai and what you prefere. Thank you!
