To master one's self by training both mind and body to become one and in harmony with each other. At least that was what the zen masters of old tried to achieve. The belief was, if you succeeded in doing this, you become capable of overcoming any obstacles you may encounter in life.

As much as anything it is a lifestyle & a mindset. In Korean, Martial Art is called Mu Do. The idiagram for "Mu" contains a sword, a spear, a drop of blood & a symbol that means STOP. True martial artists are peacemakers. We do not fight unless we have to.

To be a martial artist means you train hard. And know what you want to do with your dreams and future

it means a different thing , to different people. to me personally it means , you can beat the average joes as*. Im not the tia chi, ying yang. one with nature martial artist.

It is a frame of mind. And what a couple people said above, to be a peacemaker and only fight when have to.
