Honeslty I do not understand how anybody can consider this to be a skilled sport, I hate turning on the TV Set and watching to guys wrestle on the floor for the entire night, that is no way a fight.
and yet some how its considered skill, when in reality how can you consider that skill? they get to do just about anything you would on the street?
Boxing in my opinion is the far more skilled sport, you do not get to kick, choke, Throw elbows or Knees, you have a limited area of where you score points, you block and throw shots with only two hands.
to me there is no question Boxing is the far better skilled of the two, when you have more boundries such as boxing does you find out who really is the better man that night, I would be willing to bet that 99% of those in MMA couldnt do anything in the sport of boxing, which is why they need MMA it is a sport that allows them to basicly do pretty much what they want to do, to me that isnt skill, I can see that at any highschool any time

Help im afraid to fight someone i know i can beat up, he challenges me in a fight in school and I knew I could beat him then I suddenly became nervous and didn;t want to fight, when I went home I changed my mind and thought that I would fight him but when I went to school the next day I was scared again!! How come Im afraid to fight someone I know I could defeat? HOw do I overcome this?? Also I train Muay Thai for about 6 months now and the guy who want's to fight me probably doesn't even have a fighting experience....

Before i wasn't afraid to fight my classmates about 2 years ago I challenged a friend to a fight then I lost... Maybe that's is the reason I get afraid???? HElp me please

Meaning do you really think a chinese system of Wu Shu is really that much different than Shaolin or Hungar, or in Japanese Shotokan, Goju, Kyokushinkai, Kenpo?

Do you think they have MANY differences or just a few?

Today I was throwing huge homerun punches but only connected on 2 of them. The rest I noticed he backed up on or ducked down. So when he does this what is a good way to hit him or do something. What are some good fist fighting techniques and punching tips.

Its almost become the same fight with different names. Plus, its produced alot of foolish assumptions within the populus that seems to make all people who have never taken martial arts but watch UFC think that the only 3 respectable fighting arts are Muay Thai, BJJ, and Wrestling.

I really enjoyed it more when it was like UFC 1 and 2.

I am thinking of adding it to my other martial arts. However I hear conflicting opinions on how effective it is. The other thing is I HATE kata's! However if Kenpo is effective then I will still take the classes.

Is good for a person looking to defend themselves, get into better physical shape and most importantly increases confidence?

I deal with difficult people frequently and often feel threatened. I want to learn to defend myself if some thing should happen. Also how hard is it to learn martial arts? What kind of physical training does it take? I know that it depends on the person, but how long does it take to advance in general for an average student? If I do this I don't want to be a beginner forever, I want to advance, be confident in my ability and be good at it.

I have looked and ninjitsu, tae-kwon-do, and judo appear to be prevelant in my area.

I have taken karate for ten years and am currently a brown belt, so I posess strong kicks. I am 5'11 128 pounds and go to the gym three times a week so am quite strong (Have six-pack and other defined muscles), and can beat some people who weight 170 pounds in arm wrestles. What fighting style should I approach someone who is also muscular, on the football team, is about two inches taller than me and weighs 50 more pounds.

Need Advice!!!!!!?
I gave my girlfriend an ultimatum to quit her sport ,which involves grappling other guys, I told her, she could continue with her other sports, but not the MMA.Her reply to this was "don't push me you will not like the outcome"... I love my girlfriend very much. I really can not take this anymore.I do not like the contact she has with other men. What do you think of this situation?

I'm taking a "karate" class locally, and I would like to look up the forms/katas online for extra practice at home. The only problem is that it's hard to spell these foreign words, and I'm really not sure of the style of karate that we're considered to be. All I know is that the instructors call the first three forms Form 1, Form 2, Form 3. He calls the next six "pennums" or "penins"? Not really sure. The name he uses for the brown belt kata soulds like Saha (pronounced say-hah). The progression of the belts used to be white, blue, red, green, brown, and black, but is now white, yellow, blue, red, green, brown, and black. Hopefully this information helps someone identify the style and more helpfully, a website with videos for the forms for this style of the martial arts.

Thanks

I think after all the bs about Black Belts (and what they have become )... If i were to open a school... on the first day I would just give the student a BB... and say .. "now that we got that out of the way, let's start training"... That being said I was as proud as I could be to get mine (so it may seem hipocritical but just looking back)... anymore you see ppl jus want it and..... who cares about how good they get... they get it after paying for "the black belt program"... Ahh jus some food for thought... would like to hear others opinions... thanks
