I have 3 girls, ages 10, 5 and 3. they have been asking to take martial arts classes. My husband says they are too young, and it would be a waste of money. I know the younger ones wont really do alot, but would it help them start a fondation for later, or should they wait?

As seen in Kung Fu Hustle and Master Killer. Please provide a link to the ring.

I saw them once in Chinatown, NYC but never bought them... maybe I can purchase online somewhere? I've tried ebay, google, but no luck!

yes, i know the time can vary greatly. but for someone who doesn't miss many sessions, works relatively hard, but is self-conscious?

and speaking of that, does keying up really help? (cause i'm too embarrassed to even try. haha)

I've been researching online about medicine ball exercises and I know that they have been used by boxers and martial artists for years in their training, so I started there. Most of the stuff I have found involves some type of "contact" drills where they bounce the ball off of their abs or sides while they do crunches, etc. Does that really work anything and is it safe to do?

I've trained with some excellent kung fu artists, but I've always questioned Dim Mak (the use of pressure points to subdue or incapacitate an opponent). Don't get me wrong, I see an accupuncturist and he believes it works, but hearing about it is one thing. Here's a "National Geographic like" show that demonstrates it if you're unfamiliar with the concept...

Oh...And if you do believe it works, have you experienced someone use it on you?

Why is it that everyone seems to think that practicing martial arts is just like they see in the movies? I am in high school and have been practicing martial arts for many years. Whenever I mention to someone that I practice martial arts, they will say something ignorant like "so can you beat me up?" or something of a similar nature. Why is it that people are unable to understand that martial arts are not about fighting at all? Does anyone else notice these things?
