I've trained with some excellent kung fu artists, but I've always questioned Dim Mak (the use of pressure points to subdue or incapacitate an opponent). Don't get me wrong, I see an accupuncturist and he believes it works, but hearing about it is one thing. Here's a "National Geographic like" show that demonstrates it if you're unfamiliar with the concept...

Oh...And if you do believe it works, have you experienced someone use it on you?

Of course it works, just not like in the movies. I have benn struck on pressure points, seen others struck on pressure points & it is not fun. There is no "magic" involved, just knowledge of human anatomy.
As for accupuncture, I can tell you 1st hand that it works as I have received accupuncture treatment on several occasions & it really helps.

It does and doesn't work. I have it work in training and on some unskilled fighters in real life. However, if people are trained martial artists then I have never seen it work in real life.

I am skeptical about the benefit. As a bouncer they tended to be effective for the first half-2 seconds until the drunk decided to ignore it and keep fighting.

So I think it works, but don't depend on it to win a fight. It will not subdue and angry, enraged opponent.

The Dim Mak or Dim Hsueh I studied is more than just pressure points to subdue or KO a foe. Some techniques don't even require one to touch his foe. Negative chi is projected for some distance and even through walls. Several styles are based upon accupressure (not accupuncture, unless you use needles), but there are other styles. I know that some of them work, but I'm doubtful about the ones you mention. Don't tell my sister why several of her cats have died in the past few years!

I'm sure certain pressure points can work, the question is can you get to them in a real fight with a skilled opponent? Grabbing a wrist as someon tries to punch you is insanely hard. As for the "death touch" part of dim mak, pure bunk.

Pressure points work, but seriously folks, if you try to put the dragons touch on me I will impact your wind pipe. see, the difference is that real people in real fights fight back. training on a standing, compliant person does not represent the real world.

just like that Jet Li movie, Kiss Of The Dragon, see... its bullshit. Yes, we know Accupuncture works, but to hit a point while jumping around fighting is bollocks.

same with Dim Mak. works, but never on in the real time workd we live in, who the hell stands there in a fight and allows someone to poke fingers into soft spots.

lol @ you d34dly ninjas! (yeah, I know Dim Mak aint Japanese) lol

You Fools ... pressure points work... on a cooperative opponent that is. IN A REAL FIGHT I WOULD HAVE KILLED U FIRST VIA REAR NAKED CHOKE OR HEAD AND ARM CHOKE OR GUILLOTINE CHOKE.

*THE MOST RELIABLE WAY TO KILL OR INCAPACITATE SOMEONE REGARDLESS OF SIZE OR STRENGTH IS A CHOKE. EVEN MORE RELIABLE THAN A PUNCH.

*EYE POKES/ATTACKS RELY ON PAIN THRESHOLDS AND TOLORANCES MOSTLY, BUT IF U BLIND YOUR OPPONENT
HE CAN STILL PULL A GUN, KNIFE, HIT U WITH A LUCKY PUNCH, ETC...

*GROIN ATTACKS .. FIRST OF ALL DON'T WORK ON FEMALES OR GUYS WHO HAVE HAD THEIR "STUFF" REMOVED, THESE TOO RELY VERY HEAVILY ON PAIN THRESHOLDS AND TOLORANCES.

DURING BOTH OF THE AFFOREMENTIONED ATTACKS U CAN OFFER SOME KIND OF OFFENSE..... WHEN U ARE ASLEEP OR DEAD FROM A CHOKE (WHICH IS MUCH MORE RELIABLE THAN A DEATH TOUCH) TRY TO FIGHT BACK..

THINK DON'T FOLLOW!!!!!!!

While I do believe it to a point, I don't believe all the mysticism it has garnered, but I do believe that it has some good applications.

unfortunately only a certain few know these techniques, and for good reason I would think, because it is something that should not be common knowledge due to the fact that there are people who would use it improperly.

It works, I've had it done to me and I've used it on many people. Both in the military and out in civilian life. trained in martial arts a very long time and was taught it by Master Rothrock in Scranton Pa. You may have heard of his daughter, Cynthia Rothrock!!!!! Trained right along with her and know the family well. Don't try to use it unless you are correctly trained to do so.
