I definitly prefer the new format simply because it is more entertaining. I also like the old format... but it was less entertaining than the new format. Just watch the fight between dan severan and royce gracie.. it was just dan laying on top of gracie for 30 mins until gracie caught dan with a triangle choke.
The old format was essentially NHB (no holds barred), and it was designed to find the most effective style, now that thats been accomplished, UFC has evovled into MMA (mixed martial arts) which is a sport, not a test. and sports are almost always more entertaining than a test.

I see the purpose of the rules changing although I think it would be neat to see at least once a year a tournament with the old format to see who is truly the best ultimate fighter. Yes, I'm also watching the marathon and plan to watch the weigh-ins tonight as well.

I liked the old style but I'd rather have it with weight classes and timed rounds. It would be nice to see an openweight tournament in UFC like they have in PRIDE, but the NSAC rules prohibit that, I think. Maybe once they hit the UK they'll have another tournament, but I'm happy with UFC now.

I prefer the old style, fighters had guts back then, the things they put themselves through made you proud just to witness it. Still watch the new style though it's funny i can't stand boxing yet sit on tenterhooks when watching the UFC, love it! Much respect for that dude with a missing pec, how messed up does he look, but still has good power in that arm. Miss Randy, Hate Sanchez, love to watch Tank Abbot fight, don't like cabbage he has no respect. Anyway I'm off on one now, gonna stop myself while i can. lol ;)
