Players who lose in playoffs of majors don't come back well. The only player who recovered from a playoff loss to win multiple majors is Faldo. Take a look:

Masters playoff losers: (majors won since playoff loss)
'87 - Norman, Ballesteros (both won only one more major)
'89 - Hoch (0)
'90 - Floyd (0)
'03 - Mattiace (0)
'05 - DiMarco (0)

US Open playoff losers:
2001 - Mark Brooks (0)
1994 - Montgomerie, Loren Roberts (both 0)
1990 - Mike Donald (0)
1988 - Faldo (only exception)

British Open playoff losers:
1989 - W. Grady and Norman (0 and 1)
1995 - C. Rocca (0)
1998 - Brian Watts (0)
1999 - Van de Velde (0)
2002 - Appleby, Elkington, Levet (0)
2004 - Els (0)

PGA playoff losers:
2004 - DiMarco, Leonard (both 0)
1999 - May (0, but I think he was cheated by a fan)
1996 - Kenny Perry (0)
1995 - Colin Montgomerie (0)
1986 - Norman (1)

So what do you think Garcia's chances of ever winning a major are now? Bleak or none?

I've been golfing now for about eight months and my hadicap is 20 (par 72). My wife bought me some Jack Nicholas golden bear clubs and I love them ( I shot a 82 on a par 70 course over the weekend). I'm told that I have a really good game for someone just starting to play and should look into it seriously. However, I'm 6'9 and I'm told to get clubs that would fit my height and stop my back from hurting. Where do I go and what should I do? Will this mess my hadicap up?

I'm looking to get a new wedge and here's my situation. i have an old 60º Vokey that i love, a 56º Taylormade RAC with 10º bounce. The latter currently serves as my sand wedge. I am looking to get a 52º or 54º Titleist Oil Can or Raw wedge. I wouldn't mind adding another sand club to my bag, but I need help on

A. What kind of wedge to buy.

B. The loft of that wedge.

and C. What the bounce should be since i still want it to be functionable out of the rough.

for whatever reason, my wrist breaks right upon contact with the ball. as a righty, 2 things happen. i either hit it at the toe, pushing the ball right, or i must overcompensate for it where sometimes, i just pull it left. i can always cure it on the practice green or at home, but when i'm on the field, it always comes back so i stopped even practicing for it. the odd thing is putting has always been my strength & this hitch came on all of a sudden ... literally during a round. initially i discounted it thinking it's a one time thing, but it won't go a way. i'm thinking it's mental (mostly anyway), but how do i deal w/ it? any tip or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I admit I was somewhat rooting for Sergio, (Mickelson is my favorite followed by Tiger), but it was OK to see the irishmen take it. Was this his first Major win? Ive heard of him but not sure about his records.

I watched the British Open this morning and as of 3pm in the USA New York, Sergio Garcia has a 3 stroke lead. He has played great for 3 days kept his calm and composure even after beaning a cameraman on 17 today. Do you think he will keep it together tomorrow or do you think he will have a major meltdown and lose the tournament. What are your thoughts? I would like to see him win his first major.

If an amateur wins the British Open he gets the Trophey but he can only win a certain amount of cash as an amateur. In that case how much can he win and what happens to the rest of the prize money?

I live in Queensland, Australia and the average green fees on an average course is around $40.

But I was wondering how much it was in other states and around the world (in local currency) just to compare how cheap it is around Australia/the world.

Can I have an answer for an AVERAGE course, not an el-cheapo par 3 or a flash-5 star hotel course or where they play the masters. Thanks

Im always watching sport shows where they ask sport people what they do 'before every kick' 'before every game' ect.

But because I prefer to hear from everyday people, what always do before your tee shot, fairway shot and putt.

I always take two practice swings/putts and sometimes a 3rd if its a hard shot.

What do you do?

NO SMARTY ANSWERS PLEASE!

I caddied today in a 4-day member guest at a country club. The members were trying to feed me that you can only take 2 club lengths from the point of entry. I could've sworn you can go as far back as you want from the line it went in as long as you're not going closer to the hole.

I have it down to Ping G5's and Callaway Big Bertha which is a better club to play with? I hear that they are very similar, and that the Callaway's are better to hit with while the Ping's won't give you the most forgiveness as the Callaways. Any Help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!
