lets say your at a golf course. and you come up to a par 3. that means if you get the ball in the hole in 3 shotes you gat a par. a par 4 takes 4 shots to get a par. a par 5 is 5 shots. a birdie is one stroke under a par. so at a par 3, 2 shots woud be a birdie. par 4 would be 3 shots for a birdie and to gat a birdie on a par 5 would be 4 shots

Any given hole has what the score "should" be on average. Either Par 3, 4, or 5.

On a par 3 if you make it in the hole in one shot it obviously a hole in one. In two shots it would be a birdie, in three shots it would be a par. In four shots it would be a bogey, in 5 shots a double bogey and so on....

On a par 4, one shot is again obviosly a hole-in-one. Two shots would be an EAGLE, three shits would be your birdie, 4 shots a par, and so on with your bogey, double bogey, etc.

Once you get to Par 5, a hole-in-one is pretty much out of the question, it far to long of a hole. If your extremely good and lucky and you make a 2 on a par 5 that would be a double eagle, then on to eagle, birdie, par, bogey, double bogey, etc.

A par is when you meet the amount of stroke it takes to complete that hole, a birdie is when you're one stroke under. Eagle is two stroke under, bogie is 2 strokes over the par.

par = predetermined amount of strokes for a hole
birdie = one stroke under par
eagle = two strokes under par
double eagle = three strokes under par
bogey = one stroke over par
double bogey = 2 strokes over the par.
