Football (American) - August 2007

[Selected]: All categories Sports Football (American)

In the two main college sports, football and basketball, millions of dollars are made to benefit both the school and the conference both in ticket sales and TV deals. Would some of the off the field issues which arise be partially taken care of by a small stipend to players?

An example might be from the recent arrest of two Iowa players for credit card fraud. Since they are unable to work due to football expectations, they chose to get money illegally and now their carrer and reputations are ruined. It's possible that they might not have turned to this had they been given a stipend.

Looks like he will get minimum 3 years hard time.

Falcons are looking to get 22 million dollars off him.

NFL Commissioner will most likely ban him for life.

Americans love their pets and spend something like 4 billion on them each year. Cant see Falcons fans being Falcons fans if he is let stay.

He could go to a struggeling francise but then the owner would have to be an idiot and there are a few out there.

Personaly i think he is a horrible man and shouldnt be allowed to stay in society.

Wikipedia definition of Hero:
A Hero (Greek ἥρως), in Greek mythology and folklore, was originally a demi-god, the offpsring of a mortal and a deity.[1] Later, hero (male) and heroine (female) came to refer to characters that, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self-sacrifice, that is, heroism, for some greater good

Does this sound like what athletes are?
I keep hearing that Vick should not be let back into the NFL b/c as an athlete he is looked up to as a hero - if this is true it is a sad state of our country

We all know there offense is bad but Indy's 1st team offense moved the ball at will on the great Bears defense. If they don't fix the offense which I don't know if they can because Grossman is going to cost them some games & Benson being the only running back isn't going to help either. The defense might not be as good as in years past maybe they will miss tank? I saw the Vikings 1st team defense against the Jets & it looked outstanding & there offense is just as good as Chicago's. There running game will be better than Chicago's. Chicago will be in for a challenge this year they aren't just going to walk through the NFC North like they did last year.
