I am having a custom road bike made and need to find out
a good saddle since it is almost impossible to consider
saddles when you haven't been able to sit on them!

Does anyone have anything to say about Terry versus Selle,
for example Selle Italia SLR looks like a good fit and I can get
it at a very light weight but it may be too uncomfortable on
relatively long rides.
Any advice?

Anyone using one? Any opinions on stiffness, improvement of ride (or dare I say aesthetics)?

What about the regular alumnium with carbon face plate?

Thanks in advance.

I'm starting to ride a lot and was just curious what the upper limits are for miles in a week (physically and realistically).
Anyone ever ride more than 250 miles in a week? Please describe the circumstances as well.

I'm a middle aged "has-been" who is no longer able to run for exercise anymore (back operation, ankles are shot, etc, etc). I still lift weights with my two teenaged boys, but am not getting enough cardio. I would like to do some trail riding and a bit of down hill riding. Any recommendations?

i ride 20 miles (10 miles one way commuter) a day 4-6 days a week over moderately hilly roads on a road bike. i am told that the course is mostly flat. i have been riding for about a month and am in pretty good health. this is not a race but a ride for charity. there is a 21 mile option but i want to push my self. am i asking too much?

This weekend the tour de frace (thats the big cycle race around france) is starting in London, but not being much of a cycling fan i have no idea who is who. Can anyone give us an idea of who to look out for as the main contenders? and are there any brits? last time i saw it on TV there didn't seem to be any which i thought was odd seeing as how good we are at the indoor cycling velodrome thingummy.

combo?
Also anyone familiar with Beyond Fabrication home made

I'm not too tall 5' 6" and I'm getting reconstructive knee surgery for an old torn cruciate ligament injury,

and so I'm looking for a new sport that will be easy on my knee (no impact, no twisting) and I like the idea of cycling, I bought a decent bike cause I cycle to work every day (4 miles total).

I just think that because your on wheels and pedal, long legs aren't an advantage, there's less bodily wind resistance and the lower centre of gravity is probably better.

Am I right or can anyone inform me otherwise?

P.s All this aside i really enjoy it so this is really out of curiosity.

Thanks!

I'm a distance runner and I'm looking to cross train by biking.

I know nothing about biking, nothing at all. So I need to know what type of bike to look at, and if I need any other equipment and what to look for, like helmet, and shoes, etc etc.
I would want to bike between ground, and gravel. I guess I would bike up to 50 miles at a time, ( I usually run around 15 miles at a stretch and about 32 miles in a week)
Any advice would be appreciated.

Anyone who is a fan of cycling knows that doping has been widespread in cycling over the past 15-20 years.

Pantain, Landis, and Ullrich did it. Armstrong and Indurain did it. Wouldn't be surprised if Lemond used drugs too.

If Cycling really wants to be clean, shouldn't we reward cyclists for coming clean? Or, should former cyclists be punished for telling the truth?

I am looking to buy some second hand pedals and the seller can only tell me that they have a black "PI" stamped on the front. I have included a link to photos of them. Can anyone tell me anything about them?

It seems a silly question, especially when I know a lot about bikes... but discs are new to me. My new bike came with Hayes Sole brakes and 6" rotors, and frankly the brakes aren't all that great, not the step up I thought hydraulic discs would be. I've read reviews that say the same, one suggested that the best mechanical disc brakes are better now.

So my question - can I keep my rotors, and buy new brakes, or do I need to spend stupid money to get new rotors too? I'm looking at either some Avid Juicys, or possibly Hope Mono, which are in my budget.

My friend told me its bad to ride a bike a lot. Because it takes away your virginity. But I'm not really sure if its true. And I'm riding it almost everyday.

I just bought an old town/beach cruiser bicycle and the fenders have rust on them. How do I get it off? All the new fenders here in the stores are plastic so I want to keep the orginal ones.

all ciclysts know that flats are our enemy, so we carry a flat tire kit to fix'em, without the air we end up with ... a flat tire!!

I've been looking all over the internet for a can of compressed air for bicycles but there seems to be none.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places and if I am can someone shed some light on this?

I hate the "fix a flat" cans they sell in retail stores, they are way too messy and overtime eat away the rubber in the tires.
