The tires on the Trek Fitness line vs. that of their Hybrid line looks quite similar. The Fitness lines offer 700 x 25Cs to 35Cs depending on the particular variant, while the Hybrid line looks like all 35Cs (which are wider).

The most obvious differences other than the tires that I can pick out by looking at the photos of Trek's Fitness line vs. their Hybrid line is that the Hybrids have an adjustable stem (you can change the rise angle) and a front suspension fork. The Fitness line looks like they have a fixed stem and no front suspension.

The Trek ftness bikes are lighter and more agressive versions of their hybrid line. The idea was to create bikes very similar to road bikes without the uncomfortable riding position that may do not like. Therefore, the tires on the fitness line have a narrower profile and can handle more air pressure.
