Talk about overrated. 3 "alphabet soup champions" that lack skill,(the heavyweight division is in the sorriest most lackluster state it's been in since the early 1930's - pre Joe Louis) and charisma. Is there any new talent on the horizon that can help resurrect the marquee division in boxing, therefore creating more/new interest is this great sport. Once upon a time the man who held the heavyweight crown was known as the baddest man on the planet. With these "champions" lack of skill and more importantly CHARISMA, are these men the "anointed ones" to bring boxing back to the prominence it's once held in years past?

One more question why in the h*ll don't these 3 "champions" insist that their respective promoters match them against each other so we have a unified and undisputed heavyweight champion? You never saw the great champions of the past ducking each other. They wanted to be known as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Why won't these three fight each other?

Have you ever noticed that whenever a question is asked about two caucasian boxers few if any avatars feature african am. users. Also, whenever somebody compares a caucasian boxer to an afro boxer all the afr. am. avatars choose the afro am. boxer. Take the ali vs. marciano question, almost all afr. am. avatars choose ali.

Whenever someone brings up the Russian Champions, there are constant put downs and delusions that Heavyweight boxing is dead. It seems like many users are in denial just because of the race of the current beltholders.

I had an Email exchange with an ignorant schmuck recently, who was another in the long line of Rocky Marciano cheerleaders that insists that Marciano was the greatest heavyweight that ever lived, because he was unbeaten.
My response was that by that moron logic, current WBA champ Nicolay Valuev is as good as Marciano was, because he's unbeaten, too.
That got me to thinking - who would win a hypothetical match-up?
Guess what? I think Valuev beats him. Valuev is just too damn big.
There's just no way a 189 pound man, with a 67" reach, standing at 5'11 inches tall would be able to reach, let alone beat, a man that towers over him at 7 ft, outreaches him at 80" and outweighs him by 139 pounds at 328.
Am I wrong? If I am, tell me why.

Rep Power: 0 Leonrad and Duran

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I understand that in most polls Duran is rated higher than Leonard as an all time great. But why? I loved Duran. He is the number two greatest lightweight of all time (in my opinion) ..just behind (in a close one) to the great Henry Armstrong (who I believe would have outpointed Duran in a fight). I agree that Duran was one of the toughest fighters ever. But Leonard dominated him in their second meeting. Please do not say that Leonard clowned the entire fight. Actually, only in round 7 did he show off. And in their first fight, Leonard almost beat Duran at his own game. Leonard knocked out Hearns. Hearns destroyed Duran. Leonard beat Hagler (ok, I thought Hagler had retained his crown). But Duran surely did not beat Hagler (even though he fought very well against the marvelous one). Leonard won the welterweight, mid
