Doesn't the fact that he's bigger and stronger suggest that he has an advantage in a brawl? A brawl is his best chance to win because he can bully Mayweather. If they box, he'll get peppered to death and outpointed. If he can make it a brawl, he should.

Of course he has a chance. He's smart and very technical. He won't be lured out of his game plan be ring antics. He also has a punchers chance, because I personally think if he lands a clean shot, he can hurt Mayweather. That is, if he can catch him. Again, if he can turn it into a brawl, he should because Mayweather is too quick for De La Hoya to be successfull chasing him around the ring.

At the same time, Mayweather is the best fighter in the world RIGHT NOW, and he is a smart fighter. He recognizes that De La Hoya is bigger and stronger just like we do and does not want to brawl with him. Therefore, look for Mayweather to utilize his speed and quickness by moving around the ring and shooting 1's and 2's. I think Mayweather will run from him the whole fight and try to win on points.

It'll be something to see. Speed, quickness, athleticism and cunningness vs. Unyielding pursuit, strength, discipline and strategy.

I am not a big De La Hoya or Mayweather fan but after watching the first fight I honestly had De La Hoya winning. I guess it is really just the style's that caught the judges eyes. De La Hoya applied all the pressure while Mayweather displayed his defensive and counter punching skills. I don't remember who landed more punches but I wouldn't believe Compubox numbers anyways. For the rematch, De La Hoya needs to think about what happens if Floyd does decide to fight toe to toe, can he come out with a victory ? Besides the first Castillo fight, I believe we still have not seen Floyd Mayweather pushed to his limit and if he decides to really fight toe to toe, he would probably KO Oscar. On the other hand, if Mayweather fights the same as in the first fight Oscar will win by a well deserved decision.

edgar 1084 - Getting into a brawl with Floyd is exactly what he has to do. If he tries to box at a distance and keep Mayweather on the end of his jab he's playing right into Floyd's hands(he will need the jab to get inside). PBF will just out box him, run and stick. Oscar has got to do something he is not known for to win this fight. He must mount an aggressive and effective body attack. If he targets Mayweather's head, Floyd will go into that protective shell of his where he protects his chin with his left shoulder and he will roll with and slip punches. Granted Oscar is the bigger/taller man but he can't match speed with Floyd. He's got to bully Floyd and attack the body. In my opinion it's the only way he controls the pace and tempo of the fight, and the only way he can win it.

I disagree: Can Oscar win? hell yes. I don't think Floyd will beable to hurt dlh at 154. The days of floyd dominating people with power and speed were at 130-135. Floyd will have to win fighting back words with hand speed. The rougher it gets the better chance DLH has. Remember Floyd is coming form greatness at 130 to 140 were he could make a quality fight with hatton all the way up to 154 to beat The Golden Boy in MGM (THE house OSCAR built). He has never fought anybody this good at this weight. Will he be fast enough to hit and run?

He has a chance against Floyd if he can cut off the ring. If he lets Mayweather move alot and doesn't hit Mayweather then he will lose. I foresee a controversial decision. I have seen fights of both of these guys where I thought the fighter they fought won but they got the decision. This one is tailor made for that.

Floyd is going to hit and run like a little punka*s biatch. All Oscar has to do is be aggressive. He cannot be too aggressive and get stupid now or Floyd will lay into him with lightning combos. If he just plays the aggressor he will win. We know most judges give the fight to the aggressor in most cases.

I agree with you he has a chance, but I look at it completely differently. He NEEDS to brawl to have chance. Floyd is too slick for him if he wants to make it a boxing match, and at 154 Floyd's brittle hands aren't going to be able to hurt anyone, but Oscar can.
