Have you ever noticed that whenever a question is asked about two caucasian boxers few if any avatars feature african am. users. Also, whenever somebody compares a caucasian boxer to an afro boxer all the afr. am. avatars choose the afro am. boxer. Take the ali vs. marciano question, almost all afr. am. avatars choose ali.
Whenever someone brings up the Russian Champions, there are constant put downs and delusions that Heavyweight boxing is dead. It seems like many users are in denial just because of the race of the current beltholders.

I have to say that i will Always root for the white guy,and if they are both white i will root for the whitest one.**** make my chapion pink ,Im not racist im just tired of everyone thinking a white guy dont have a chance to be heavywieght champ,bring on the great white hype baby,,i dont care if hes russian,white african,,hell id even root for him if he was a special olympic boxing champ as long as hes white!and another thing i refuse to be called caucaian any more,i am an anglo-saxon...other races refuse to call us that cuz it scares the hell out of em,anglo,that just sounds scary,.anglo,,but all the women can call us saxon,,,sounds like sexy dont ya think,my point is your gonna stand up and root for your race or nationality or whatever it may be,jsut deal with it and go on,,,but there will be an undisputed white champion,and when there is you all will hear me through out the land..lol

Smitty sums it up quite well! What really is your problem sir with bringing up racism? This site is based on the opinions of the answerers. While Marciano was an all time great, these Russian guys fighting today are not in the class of the great champions of years gone by because of their skill level. I could care less about the race of the champions fighting today but apparently it is an issue with you.

It's not racism it's fact that the Russian fighters lack skill, and the heavyweight division is in the sorriest state it's been in since the early 1930's. In the early 1930's the American heavyweights ruled then and they lacked skill, and that's a fact also. Funny too, there's another multiple avatar user asking this question. It aint racism it's fact.

I say heavyweight boxing is dead, but i do like sam peter as a nice up and comming star and im white....i dont think its racial, but rather just a small coincidence....alot of white pple will tell you the heavyweight division is dead....as for Ali and marciano, its probably more age playing a factor than anything.....ive seen some ali fights, but no marciano fights, so i would probably lean towards ali being the best....cuz i am younger

I,m glad you brought this up I am a sports fan and I am a former armature and pro boxer and I was getting that feeling let me say this if I have offended any one on here with my comments or questions I am sorry I never ment to fall into the race thing there is no place for in any where we have to much bad history here in America for blacks and white to talk openly and truthfully about race so lets stay out of it on this form and have fun talking to each other about the sport we love thanks Smitty you said it well

People always did have the habit of cheering for the 'home guy' in any sport, simply because of the natural tendency to identify with one's own likeness.
I'm a Canadian. Just because I cheer for Canada at the World Hockey Championships doesn't make me a racist, does it? So what if a 'black' person cheers for a 'black' fighter? So what if a 'white' person' cheers for a 'white' fighter?
As long as there's people who look for racism in situations like that, they're going to find it whetherit exists or not.
If I cheer for Canada because I 'hate' other ethnicities, then you could probably call it racist. But I personally don't believe this is the main motivation behind people's favourite athletes.
As long as there's people willing to harbour ideas like yours, there will be racist undertones in everything you see.
Wouldn't you have to agree?
