Talk about overrated. 3 "alphabet soup champions" that lack skill,(the heavyweight division is in the sorriest most lackluster state it's been in since the early 1930's - pre Joe Louis) and charisma. Is there any new talent on the horizon that can help resurrect the marquee division in boxing, therefore creating more/new interest is this great sport. Once upon a time the man who held the heavyweight crown was known as the baddest man on the planet. With these "champions" lack of skill and more importantly CHARISMA, are these men the "anointed ones" to bring boxing back to the prominence it's once held in years past?
One more question why in the h*ll don't these 3 "champions" insist that their respective promoters match them against each other so we have a unified and undisputed heavyweight champion? You never saw the great champions of the past ducking each other. They wanted to be known as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Why won't these three fight each other?

Marketable? Bama Grad. These guys lack charisma. I must agree with your statement about Manny Steward. He has done wonders for the lackluster champion. Wlad is lucky he's got him in his corner. Hmmm, food for thought the Russian becomes a better fighter via an American trainer.

Klitschko - people like him b/c he's a well rounded fighter who has a big punch and a questionable chin, which makes his fights always interesting. I personally like Klitschko because IMO he's fought the toughest competition of the champs, he seems to be the most skilled, and I there are some fights he could have that I would be interested in (peter rematch, valuev, etc.)
Valuev - people like him b/c he's undefeated and freakish (this being the more important one to most casual fans). I don't really care for him b/c he's getting his hand held by DK too much. It's time to step in there with someone that atr least seems dangerous. I give him a little crdit if he beats McCline this weekend but not much
Maskev - This one puzzles me the most. I guess b/c he was the underdog when he knocked out Rahman. Honestly though I haven't run across anybody who's a fan or really interested in checking out his fights.
As for Charisma....Briggs the unmentioned has the most of the current, and no I don't know of any heavy prospects that look like they may rule the division in the future. I'm sure there is some with charisma but it doesn't matter if they're not dominant.
The reason they don't want to unify is:
Klitschko - attempting, expect a briggs fight this year
Maskeav - Knows he's going to get knocked so want so to get paid (ie trying to make the hopkins fight)
Valuev - Don wont let it happen b/c he's making too much money with undefeated sideshow

Hey Brent! Yeah talk about a lackluster bunch of fighters you just named there and lumbering and unskilled to say the least. Even in the pre Louis era there was one true heavyweight champion at least and guys like Schmeling, Sharkey, Braddock, Baer had more skill than this current bunch. At the very least we should have a tournament between these guys and have one unified champion. Yes all ths WBA, IBF, WBC and who knows what else is really getting old and this is a problem that could and should be solved by having one boxing organization that recognizes one true champion. Nice question sir.

i extremely weep for the heavyweight branch. I undergo in ideas even as Lennox Lewis retired, one HBO commentator stated that he would not be shocked if someone shocked the branch and took his mantle in about a three hundred and sixty 5 days. that is been over 2 and a 1/2 years, and the photo seems even bleaker than it did lower back then. Of this team of paper tigers, i might want to ought to bypass with Wladimir Klitschko, even regardless of the reality that he has traditionally displayed a pitcher jaw. I in basic terms desire his older brother weren't retired so as that shall we've a real champion. David Tua became an staggering boxer in his day, yet his day is over. As a fan, i'll by no ability forgive Lennox Lewis for dodging a rematch Vitali Klitschko. I watched their in common words bout, and had it no longer been for the decrease, Lewis wouldn't have seen the fifth round. Boxing as an total is in the type of sorry state in the present day that i'm now a higher fan of blended martial arts. absolutely everyone from the UFC might want to thoroughly pwn any of the perfect boxers of their respective weight divisions.

I agree that they are not the most skilled bunch, but in the case of
Klitschko, he is that much more skilled than the other two and you have to rememeber that Manny Stewart is his trainer. He is one of the top two out there at devising an effective strategy for a fight (Mayweather Sr, is the other). Stewart is the difference. His fighters are very technical and disciplined. If he cant knock the guy out, Stewart will employ a strategy that will allow him to outpoint his opponet. Stewart knows how to strategize, train and ultimately win fights. Bottomline.
As far as why people like them, unfortunately them being White does make them if not more likeable (but I think it does), it makes them more marketable. But they are not the most skilled champions the boxing world has seen.

Valadamir Klitschko is the best out of the three by far. Although I dont think he is half as good as his brother Vitali was. Did you see what Vitali did to Lewis?? These two brothers are the best heavyweights boxing has seen in a long time. Im tired of people disrespecting them just because they are white and russian. If they are not good boxers, then prove it. Put someone in the ring to beat them. Until then shut your mouths and watch. Vladamir will beat Briggs this year which will shut everyone up for awhile. I think Valuev is just a freak show. He has no talent, but still no one can beat him. Let someone beat him then trash talk him. Maskaev doesnt impress me at all. He just seems like an old brawler. Although he did put a beat down on Rachman twice. Just shows Rachman never was that good to begin with. But people just stop hating boxers for their race and ethnicity.Stop comparing these fighters to long ago or dead hasbeens. This is boxing of 2007. If you dont like it watch another sport or channel.

I think it comes down to 3 things. They are huge, they are champ, and the are WHITE!!! Valuev is closing in on Marciano and Holmes also. Don't look for a Valuev unification until he is at a minimum of 48-0 looking for a unification and the big 49. Marciano, by the way, was also very over rated. Valuev would beat him via sheer size.

People say they are overrated only because they cannot accept boxing is becoming international. I like all three fighters and pull for them in every fight. They are liked because they are down to earth guys, who give 100 percent while black fighters give 40 percent. Watch Maskaev vs. Rahman and you will see what I mean. So happy he won this fight.
