just wondering

2006-10-03 03:51:08 · 3 answers · asked by Flif 7

I'm a relatively small, slim guy (5' 10", about 160lbs or 12 stone), which I think makes me a middleweight in British amateur boxing- is this the ideal height for this category?

Also my trainer is worried as he says I fight like a guy twice my size- I'm basically a real slugger which he says is at odds with the Amateur fighting style in this weight category- will I suffer? A couple of other fighters have said this may be an advantage as a heavy puncher might be a surprise to the people I find myself up against?

Thanks!

I saw a clip of this bout and wondered whatever happened to Wepner? I know it was in '75, so Ali was way past his best, but the tenacity of the 'relatively unknown' Wepner really struck a chord in his fight against the 'Living Legend' Ali (the TVs words, not mine!

Can anyone give me a run-down of the fight? Also any more about who Wepner was and what became of him?

Cheers.

Is something wrong with this picture? the winner kneels in his corner, and then makes the sign of the cross.when interviewed by the sports media,he thanks God for helping him beat the hell and knocking the other fighter senseless, this is not an isolated case, but happens in almost all the boxing bouts.Does God really helps one fighter beat the other for pay,or are the fighters just plain hypocrites

I am going to buy a punching bag. I originally was going to buy one made out of vinyl but I heard that vinyl doesn't last very long. Also, the vinyl one cost over $200 (it's a banana bag style one).

Luckily, I found a site that is selling the same type of bag except made out of synthetic leather for the sale price of $99.99. The manufacturer is Title Boxing which is apparently a good company.

I am ready to buy it for $99.99 from Title, but I want to know how durable is synthetic leather? How many years of abuse can it hold up to?

It seems like a good deal because other places selling the same type of material bag cost over $299. But, I would just like to make sure how good it is before going ahead and buying it.

This question has been asked numerous times but I want your personal opinion...if these two fighters had a bout when they were BOTH in their prime, what do you think would be the result?

I think it would be close but Marciano would come out on top as he would try to win by KO rather than on points; providing he was fit enough he would literally damage Clay rather than tapping away at his resolve for the points victory- if Clay was just a little too slow on his feet for even a moment, Marciano would have him cornered...and we all know what happens next...!

PS, I say Clay, not Ali, as it is my personal opinion he was at his absolute peak during this time, but please don't feel you have to do the same!
