My son, who is 8 and in little league, is so keyed up when he goes up to hit that he is waaayyyy ahead of the ball. He is a very good hitter who hits it very hard, but he is so anxious that he is swinging out of his shoes. Do you have any suggestions on how to clear the mind and relax at the plate? I have suggested that he relax and wait for the pitch, but he wants to succeed so badly that he finds it difficult. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Todd Jones said yesterday, "We want to send a message that we're not happy just going to the playoffs."

Yet, the Tigers popped 220 bottles of champagne yesterday, just for clinching a postseason berth. They didn't even clinch the division, just a playoff spot.

Does this not seem ridiculous? Are they not sending exactly the opposite message than what Jones said? Will their ********* prove costly in October?

If you had told me in April that The Tigers would be in the playoffs this year, I would have said "No Way! You're Crazy!"

But here they are with at least the wild card.

I hope they go far, I really do.
But, in all honesty, I fear The Yankees.
I know that if The Tigers have to face them it will probably be not good for Detroit.

But, as a Tiger fan, I have enjoyed this magical season so much that I can't even begin to tell you just how pleased I am.

I'm interested to know how other Tiger fans feel about this season so far.

And yes, you Yankee fans can bash away if you want.
After all I deserve it the way I've been dogging you lately.

The final week is going to be interesting.
Minnesota has 4 against KC while The Tigers play The Blue Jays.
Toronto is not going to roll over and play dead.
This will Minnesota's chance to take the division.
But the last weekend The Tigers play KC
and Minnesota is at home against the white sox.

With a win today Minnesota could move to within 1 game of The Tigers.

Will it go down to the final game of the season for division title?

Either way The Tigers are in the post season.
But as a Tiger fan I fear The Yankees, and hope Minnesota takes the wild card.

Your Thoughts?

How many times have you been to Yankee Stadium?
I live in Cali and I've never been there.
Is it worth the trip from CA? We're going next August.

He's taken a team that was 20 games under last year and turned them into a bona fide playoff contender.

Yankees or Tigers?

The Tigers have the better record (by a half game).
The Yankees have one more against TB (Tomorrow. Tigers are off).
Then 3 with Baltimore & Toronto
The Tigers have Toronto & KC.

Will be interesting to see what happens.
Of course if both teams are tied wouldn't NY get the advantage due to season series against The Tigers?

Another note, I hope the mets finish with the best record in MLB. That's a curse The Tigers dont need.

They clinched a playoff berth today for the first time in 19 years.

Yeah, I know it's been a while. Which makes this season all the more enjoyable. The whole "lack of experience" is a poor excuse for you Tiger hatrers...and Leyland wont have any of that.
I'm hoping Minnesota faces The Yankees in the first round. Minnesota (with Santana) should have no problems with The Yankees.
The Tigers will likely face Oakland, and will open at Comerica Park. That will give The Tigers the upper hand.

Do you think The Tigers & The Twins for the ALCS?
Will it go 7 games?
