Maybe a dozen or so, starting in 1962 (Tigers won) when I lived in New York, though I've been a Mets fan since 1963. I attended the very first Yankee Bat Day (got a Roger Maris bat, Twins took both games); even the kids in the bleachers (75 cents a ticket) got bats.
It's history. You go there. It's worth it, and you will like it.
It's baseball. You go there. I was in Los Angeles in 1989, and desperately hoped to attend any other game than the Dodgers (all the other California teams were on the road, however) but wound up in Dodger Stadium for a 17-inning contest, won by the Padres, 5-3 - keeping to a family tradition of Dodger hating, I rooted for the visitors, of course.
Even if you despise the Steinbrenners, The House That Ruth Built is a must-see, just like Fenway and Wrigley. I'm glad you get the chance. Take advantage of it!

Hey Mary* - First of all I couldn't count the number of times I've been to Yankee Stadium. I've seen maybe 600 or 700 games over the years. I live in Florida now and do miss not being able to see my Yankees. I can only see them now when they come to Tampa or Spring Training games at Disney World.
I guess the only thing I can tell you is that if you love the game of baseball and understand it's rich history please, do yourself a favor and go to Yankee Stadium. The tour on the monuments in left center and center fields is well worth the trip. The fact that all of these great players have walked on the same ground that you walk is an credible feeling. Do it next August because when they build the new Stadium I'm afraid much of that rich Yankee Stadium history will some how not quite be the same.

The trip is worth it. They are tearing down Yankee Stadium so it won't be there for long. Sad, I am a traditionalist and would rather see something more like Boston did with Fenway (just upgrade it). The area needs this though, as part of the deal there will be a rebuild on the train infrastructure, new park and little league fields. Monument park is great so get to the park early to see it. Once the game starts it is usually off-limits. This keeps drunk fan access to the bullpen at a minimum, something Boston should learn. (Had to throw a jab in somewhere, it made me crazy to compliment them earlier). I have been to the stadium more than I can remember.

Yankee stadium is a dump, and a scary dump if you are not a Yankee fan. Fenway Park in Boston is a place to see history and a baseball game with 36,000 of your best friends, unless you are a Yankee fan. Unless you are a Yankee fan, I would skip both NY ball parks. If you regularly go to Angels Stadium or Dodgers Stadium, Fenway will be a real culture shock. Enjoy

Been there many times...the last time during the 2001 World Series when Pres. Bush threw out the first pitch. Yankee fan or not, it's definitely worth it to go at least once. Get there early so you can go out to Monument park.

I've been there around 40 times. If you're a Yankee fan, you should get there before the new stadium opens, just to say you've been there.
