Baseball - July 2006

I had the best time at the game today!!!!! It rocked. It was my 4th baseball game ive been to. & the first one that they have one while i was there so i was happpppy :) I was kinda disappointed about the root beer float thing, when i went in there there was no players making them, just their wives. I had Alex Chavez make mine! :) She looked so young! How old is she?! Anyone know!? Any secrets for next year? When the players are in there making them?

Whenever a new pitcher takes the mound, they show his stats such as Record, ERA, K/BB, etc...and something called WHIP. What the hell is WHIP? I've been watching baseball for a long time now, and I still can't figure that out! Can anyone tell me what that is and explain what it means??

The Dodgers acquired pitcher Elmer Dessens from the Kansas City Royals for pitchers Odalis Perez, Blake Johnson and Julio Pimentel and cash.
I mean it's not a "big deal" but still, this makes no sense to me. What are the Dodgers thinking? The Royals got 3 players and $ for Dessens??
