I realize of course, there is little chance they will trade him. I suspect Yankee fans are pushing A-Rod to have super numbers year in and out. At $25mil, I agree, but has he earned his pinstripes? Is he more valuable than Jeter?

Let me start off by saying that I am a "true" Yankees fan. I'm not a bandwagon fan and I don't wear the hat just because I think the logo looks cool. I wouldn't be mad per se, but I would definitely feel like we lost an all around great player. Granted, he hasn't had that great of a season so far, but he has helped us tremendously. Some fans are focusing more on what he hasn't done for us lately, instead of the times he has pulled through. Is he making too much money? Of course. I honestly believe he has earned his pinstripes and we need to lay off him a little bit. Booing him and making him feel like trash only adds more pressure which makes it even harder. More valuable than Jeter? Never. At least he hasn't proven to be yet. Who knows what may come in the future but Jeter is a career Yankee and has definitely done more than his fair share in the past 10 years.

I consider Yankee Fans is also mad approximately this deal considering that Melky used to be a fine man at the workforce. He contributed plenty. But on account that I am now not a Yankee Fan, I am very frustated that my workforce (The Mets) did not make a transfer like that. It is most likely now that the Yanks is also getting Bay or Holliday, as they traded an outfielder and what participant would not wish to visit the Yankees, they're an international sequence workforce. This exchange isn't the most important exchange, however it may be main to higher ones.

I won't mind. Wherever he goes, I'll follow with my " I LOVE A-ROD " sign !
Heck yeah, he's earned his stripes. This year alone he's shown more character than any other player out there ! Fans booing him, starting rumors, saying he's gay ( like stupid "Cubs fan" above me ), putting him under a microscope! He keeps coming out onto that field and giving his all every game no matter what's in the paper about him. Such class my A-Rod has !
As far as being more valuable than Jeter, No. Not to the fans, but maybe statistically, Yes.

Any measure of "value" has to include cost, so no, he is not more valuable than Jeter. At $25million/year I'm sure the Yankees could trade him for a very good 3B and maybe get a good pitcher to boot. If the trade were a good one, no, we would not be sad to see him go.

Sorry to say but the Yankees suck any ways. No matter who's on their team. You know Boston felt bad for the Yankees. That's why we gave away Johnny Damon to help them out a bit.
GO SOX!!!

No to first question. He could leave now.
No to second question. He's a selfish Me stats player.
No to third question. Jeter is the Captain in a long line of captains, - Gehrig, Mantle,Munson,Mattingly,Jeter. And most importantly he's Mr. CLUTCH.

Depends on what they get in return for him. If they get somebody who can pitch the ball, the fans might love the deal. Or if they trade him for young guys and sign Zito with the extra dough, the fans would love that.

Been a Yankees fan since the early 70s. Thurman Munson was a big part of why I chose to root for the Yankees. Wasn't till later that I found out about Ruth, Gehrig, and on goes the list of great players. In the early 70s they were hopeless. I still rooted for them in the Bronx Zoo days and some of my favorite Yankees like Munson, Gossage, Rivers, Randolf, Randolf and Nettles played then. Then came the 80s. When year after year the Yanks had old players making big bucks cause they had one good season just before free agency and Stienbrenner can't read career stats on a player. I stayed a Yankee fan even after watching Hall and Barfield kill rally after rally. After watching Hawkins LOSE a no hitter. During the Sax can't throw to first difficulties. So I think I qualify.

Heres my opinion. The Yankees need pitching. Johnson is hating it this year and might be washed up. Hard to say, first year in pinstripes is usually rough. Even Clemens and A-Rod had troubles thier first year as a Yankee. Mussina is having a career year. Hope he finally wins 20 games and a Cy Young. Wang is doing a good job. Wright and the rest of the staff is horrible at best. That's whats killing the Yanks, that and age.

A-Rod is 31 I believe. Shows the potential of being the greatest 3b ever. His year is still better than any other 3b right now than Rolen. But yes he's having an off year so far. Lots of games left, I'll worry in late Augest if he hasn't turned it around a bit. Still odds are good he'll come back in 07 with a normal A-Rod year. At least if folks will get off his back.

In my opinion Godzilla is THE most important hitter on the team. Sure he doesn't have the flash numbers Sheffield and Giambi put up. He doesn't have the raw numbers A-Rod puts up. What he does is hit very consistantly. Not streaky at all.

As for Jeter. He's a hall of famer. One of the all time greats. Great glove great bat. Steals some bases and plays to win. He's a team captain in name only. It was O'Niell who inspired the Yanks. Cone was another great leader. With future hall of famers like Rivera, Jeter, A-Rod and possibly Bernie Williams, Mussina, Randy Johnson, the Yanks have historically one of the most HOF laden teams around. True Bernie is almost done. Out of all of that talent, there is not one true leader. Giambi got credit in Oakland but has never managed it wtih the Yanks. An injured disasterous year then steroirds revelations and a host of other problems has kept him from leading. Sheffield might lead people into temptation but he's not going ot be the guy to rev the team up on the field. Possada a good catcher.

Second, of the guys the Yanks are considering trading for. Most of them like Burnitz and Sanders I'd rather have a AA level player than those clowns. Empty power doesn't do much for you but kill rallies as the guy KOs 20 times for every game winning HR. Vlad is the only guy with talent that I've heard trade rumors for. Vlad is a great hitter and if the Yanks had balence age wise he'd be a great replacement for Sheffield. However he's not exactly young either.

So yes I'd be upset. I'd be upset because this is gross overreaction on the part of folks about A-Rod's stats. They are not that bad season wise.

Second Cashman is no longer in control. Stienbrenner would do better to pick random names out of a hat than influence talen decisions. Most of Stienbrenner's frea agent babies have been disasters, over paid disasters at that.

What wins ball games is good pitching, at least solid defense and determined hitting. Long ball is fun to watch if there's 1 or 2 in a game. After enough of them one HR looks like another. The Longball never has won a pennent. So many teams like the TIgers of the 80s, Rangers of the 90s, Rockies of the 90s, and on down the line have tried to hit thier way into success only to fail miserably. Nobody makes the series without pitching and lots of it.

So I'd be upset about WHO they traded for as much as losing A-Rod. A double whammy there. Keep A-Rod, let Bernie play out his days though he's doing a really good job subbing for Sheffield right now. Might be he has a good year or two left. Dump Giambi and Sheffiled for younger players who don't use Steroids. Keep the core of Jeter, Rivera, Possada around as long as they want to play. The Yankees owe it to these guys to play them until they want to retire just ast hey did with Bernie this year. Classy act keeping Bernie around. The Yanks owe him big. He's pushing possible HOF numbers now. Might be one more good year and he's in reach. Keep Godzilla. Find good young players like Cano and build the next Yankees team around them.

No, but I think Jeter would be mad because he'd be losing a boyfriend!
