That parent being god. It's almost like those who believe want someone to forgive us of our errors, not really being able to do anything without the help of a god. Almost like we can't think for ourselves.

"The more likely we are to assume that the solution comes from the outside, the less likely we are to solve our problems ourselves." Carl Sagan

Aren't we all after the same thing? We all crave wholeness and we get that through spirituality, but why do we reject each others religious preferences? Who are we to think that ours is THE right one? If so what does that make of other religions? Does that mean every one else is going to hell? Is there a hell? Or is it what we were taught it is? What makes us so perfect and others not? That's a lot of questions, can you answer them all truthfully?

Religious racists or racist Atheists?
Can you explain your answer to why you made that decision?
No childish answers!
If you're an adult, I believe that you guys can understand to what circumstances is the answer considered to be childish, simple, and pathetic.

The romans persecuted christians for 300 years until Constantine legalized christianity, so why do you think that the founders and the early christians kept christianity alive for those 300 years before constantine seeing that it was totally NOT in their best interests (they weren't getting power or wealth)
the apostles became martyrs , but do you think that they would do risk their lives for a "fairytale" or were they witnesses of Jesus' resurrection?

I too am tired of being told that I am damned to hell by certain very Christ-like Christians.

Sometimes, I feel like I've been choked so hard by the angry grasp of religion that I will suffocate.

Sometimes, religion makes my life so difficult that I wouldn't mind dying, quite honestly.

Believe it or not, being told that we will be greeted warmly by Satan when we die does not make us feel any more loved by God. It only alienates us and convinces us that the world is not so kindly.

Why does everyone have to work so hard to prove themselves right and get rid of those wrong (in any number of ways.)?

Why so much arguements and the fervor to be evangelical (converting others, not just in the christian sense), and not just from those with a religion?

In my view, it seems silly, humanity could work so many wonders if we stopped these arguements. I have my belief, you have yours, when my end comes, whatever happens, will happen, whatever I believed. As long as I lived a good, healthy life, I will be fine with whatever happens.

When compared to the vastness of the universe revealed by science, it sure seems that way. It would seem that no religion on Earth embraces the cosmos that science has uncovered. And science is a search for the truth.

There are many more things that we don't know about the cosmos, than we do know. How is it that humans seem to have this evidence needed for the biggest question, who? For our case, it's a god of somekind.

(and a book written by humans is not proof)

Stepping in front of a bus, or in other words, allowing yourself to be in a dangerous position when there is a safer option is apparently testing god which I've been told is bad. So restricting medical research is allowing yourself to be in a dangerous position when the safer option is to remove restrictions to allow new technology. Why isn't this considered testing god?

I'm curious. What made you stop believing in God, or if you never did, what prevented you from it?
